Eligibility requirements

The Rosemary O’Connor Memorial Bursary will be used to provide an entrance award of a minimum AUD $500 to a student entering their first year of study at Algoma University in the Community Economic and social Development (CESD) program. To be eligible the candidate can be enrolled in either part-time or full time studies and must have a demonstrated financial need. If in the event that an eligible candidate cannot be found, the award will be made available to an eligible student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in any program, who has a demonstrated financial need and have a minimum average of 70 per cent. This award is non-renewable.

This award will provide financial assistance of up to AUD $5,000 to one Anishinaabe (First Nation, Métis, or Inuit), student entering his or her first year at Algoma U, who is resident in the Treaty 3 Area of Ontario, and with demonstrated financial need. If no such student qualifies for the award in any academic year, the award may be given to an Anishinaabe (First Nation, Métis, or Inuit) student, entering his or her first year at Algoma U, who is resident in Ontario and with demonstrated financial need, at the discretion of the university. This award is non-renewable.

The Scotiabank First Nations Student Bursary will provide up to six entrance bursary awards valued at AUD $1,000 each to First Nations students, entering their first year of an undergraduate program at Algoma University in either business or computer science. To be eligible, the candidate(s) must be enrolled in full time studies with a course load of 30 credits over two consecutive terms (fall/winter) of study. He/she must present a minimum average of 70 per cent, based on the average of the 6 best U or M final grades presented for admission and have a demonstrated financial need. Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie Admission Scholarship II

Eligibility requirements

An annual grant provides one scholarship of AUD $2,000 renewable for up to three additional years, to a dependent of a municipal employee enrolling in 30 credits over two consecutive terms (fall/winter) of studies at Algoma U. The candidate must have completed his or her qualifying requirements in the academic year prior to commencing studies at Algoma U, and must present an average of at least 80 per cent on the 6 best U or M courses presented for admission. For renewal, candidates must maintain a minimum average of 80 per cent each academic year on 30 credits taken in two consecutive terms (fall/winter) of study. Candidates must be enrolled in 30 credits over two consecutive terms (fall/winter) of study in the current year they are receiving the award.

Eligibility requirements

The Sardar, Rajwant, Paul and Anita Sohi Family Scholarship will provide two scholarships valued at a minimum of AUD $1,250 each, to first year students who are: 1st Generation students and are First Nations, Metis, or Inuit. Preference will be given to students enrolled in either a math, science or engineering program. To be eligible the candidate(s) must be enrolled in full-time studies at Algoma University, with a course load of 30 credits over two consecutive terms of (fall/winter) study. They must have a minimum average of 70 per cent in their first term. This award in non-renewable. In any given academic year, if Algoma University is not able to identify student(s) who meet the criteria for this award, the scholarship will be awarded to a 1st Generation, First Nations, Metis, or Inuit student(s) in any program, who has a demonstrated financial need and is in good academic standing.

Algoma U Diploma Recognition Award of Excellence

Eligibility requirements

Algoma U Diploma Recognition Awards of Excellence are available to students applying for a degree-completion program under an articulation agreement, after earning a 2- or 3- year diploma from an Ontario community college. Only those Algoma U students who are enrolled in and maintain 30 credits or more over two consecutive terms (fall/winter) of study are eligible. Awards are decided using the overall average obtained by the candidate on completion of the college diploma. These awards are non-renewable.
