The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is the leading provider of vocational education and training in Canberra, Australia’s capital city. Vocational education and training is designed to provide you with occupational or work-related skills and knowledge.

CIT has proudly delivered high quality vocational education and training to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) since 2 May 1928. Over 85 years later CIT remains the leading provider of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) in Canberra, Australia’s Capital city.Each year approximately 23,000 students come together within the region’s largest TAFE provider to gain skills, knowledge and work experience to start, develop and change careers.

Over the past 10 years, CIT has thousands of international students from more than 90 different countries complete their studies in a range of diverse courses. CIToffers international student visa holders over 100 courses ranging from certificates through to bachelor degrees. Our internationally-recognised courses offer practical experience, not just theory, so students graduate with invaluable industry skills and enterprise connections.

Spread across six locations in Canberra, there is a supportive learning environment close to you, home to world-class libraries and information technology resources, as well as sporting and recreational facilities.

The first international student began at CIT in 1988.  This student was from Fiji and he enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering. Since then the international student population has grown substantially to approximately 1,300 students. CIT prides itself on offering an exciting and diverse multicultural environment with international students representing more than 90 different countries.

CIT programs are designed for people who want to study for a career, gain new skills, change careers and/or prepare for further study. CIT teaches industry-relevant, work-related knowledge and skills that are practical and up to date with the latest technology and trends.
