Sports Excellence Scholarship - Naomi Riches Award

Student requirements

Bucks New University offers talented athletes the opportunity Two players from a Varsity hockey match.to gain financial support from our 'Sporting Excellence Scholarships'. You should be studying a sports degree programme and apply with a Sport Performance CV, including two sport-related references and a written statement of 250-300 words. This should consider any evidence of sporting achievements, existing sponsorships you may have and your contributions to community through sport. The Awards are payable as fee waivers, and are as follows: Naomi Riches Award (two places) up to £3,500 per year. You should demonstrate international standard sporting performance, and have an AAB academic profile or equivalent. Should you be successful, responsibilities will include: Demonstrating achievement at various sporting and academic levels. Applying for one scholarship each year. Representing Bucks at several competitions including Varsity. Supporting Bucks through publicity of sporting achievements. Upholding the Learning Partnership Agreement in line with the University’s culture and values. Submitting a list of competitions and events you intend to compete in during the year. Participation in university-wide promotional activity/media events.

Social Work Bursary

Student requirements

BSc (Hons) Social Work tuition fees - The funding for students who study courses leading to a registration as a social worker is different to most university courses, however students will still be expected to pay tuition fees. Students can apply to Student Finance for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost. MSc Social Work tuition fees - The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) on behalf of the Department of Health can provide support towards tuition fees, but you will not be entitled to any other financial support. Financial assistance - Whether students are studying on the degree of master’s programme they should be entitled to financial assistance as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. This can be in the form of non-income assessed elements which include a basic grant and allowances for those with a disability. In addition, students may be entitled to receive income - assessed grants (based on either your own, your parents’ income, or that of your spouse or civil partner) that could include a maintenance grant and allowances to assist with certain living costs: Parents’ Learning Allowance (for students with children), Adult Dependants’ Grant (for students with adult dependants).

Bucks Advantage Bursary Scheme (BABS)

Student requirements

Although international and students from the European Union are expected to have sufficient funds to complete their course, BABS can sometimes help those students who face changes in their financial situation due to unexpected and unpredictable circumstances. If you are ineligible for assistance from the Bucks Hardship Fund or find yourself in financial hardship, it's always worth making an application.
