School of Law Admission Scholarship for the LLM Programme

Eligibility requirements

The details and the selection criteria of the awards are specified below:

For JUPAS HKDSE students

The candidates who are studying Form 6 should be nominated by the principals of local secondary schools and their application will be screened by the Selection Committee. A number of shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a selection interview. Each principal could only nominate ONE student from the school for the scholarship. In addition, candidates should put the LLB programme in Band A choices through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS).The maximum value of each award shall be up to HK$50,000.

To identify the best students to the programme, it is proposed to establish the selection criteria, for example, achieving satisfactory grades in the HKDSE, the actual performance of the students in the previous two years and nomination of the school principals. It is proposed to adopt the best result among the 2015/2016 admitted students as a minimum benchmark for admission.

For non-JUPAS students (IB applicants/GCEAL applicants/HKALE applicants /degree holders)

The candidates who apply and are admitted into the LLB programme must make the application for the Admission Scholarship together with the recommendation from the school principle (for IB, GCEAL and HKALE applicants) or academic department head (for degree holder). A selection interview will take place. The maximum value of each award shall be up to HK$50,000.

Mr. Herman Hu Outstanding Sports Talents Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Awarded to exceptionally talented sportsmen / sportswomen from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas who pursue full-time study in CityU.

The value of each award shall be HK$50,000 - HK$90,000 per annum.

Department of Accountancy - Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships for Direct Entrants

Eligibility requirements

Awarded to full time undergraduate freshmen who have been admitted to one of the CityU accountancy department's undergraduate programmes through NON-JUPAS; and achieved outstanding academic achievements which is judged to be equivalent to either at least two HKALE B grades in the programme-specific and/or language (Chinese and English) subjects, or other local, Mainland or overseas academic results acceptable to the department for this purpose and have demonstrable record in merits or achievements.

Full Tuition Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants do not have to apply for these scholarships. The appropriate level of scholarship is awarded based on merit. Students receiving it are required to attain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.2 or above every year during the period study for renewing the scholarship.

Value details

The scholarship covers annual tuition fees (approximately US$15,400).

Half Tuition Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants do not have to apply for these scholarships. The appropriate level of scholarship is awarded based on merit. Students receiving it are required to attain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.2 or above every year during the period study for renewing the scholarship.

Value details

The scholarship covers half of the annual tuition fees (approximately US$7,700).

Department of Management Sciences Entrance Awards

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the Gold (Silver) Award, an applicant is normally required to earn a minimum CGPA of 3.7 (3.4) in his/her first year of study in a degree programme offered by the City University of Hong Kong. This notwithstanding, at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, the minimum GCPA requirement may be waived for well-qualified applicants.

Gold Awards – up to 6 awards at HK$50,000 each; Silver Awards – up to 25 awards at HK$5,000 to HK$20,000 each per year. The maximum amount of the funds in a given year will not exceed HK$500,000 in total.

Mr. Herman Hu Sports Awards and Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

For team awards, applicants must hold outstanding achievement of the CityU Men's and Women's Tennis Teams in inter-collegiate competitions. For tennis most valuable player’s awards, applicants must meet the following criteria: demonstrated good sports performance and achievements in local or international competitions; have proven leadership and sportsmanship in the CityU tennis team; and obtained satisfactory academic performance. For athlete awards, applicants must satisfy the following: demonstrated good sports performance and achievements in local or international competitions; have proven leadership and sportsmanship in the CityU sports team(s); and obtained satisfactory academic performance with CGPA 2.5 or above.

Dr. Lam Kwok Pun Memorial Badminton Awards

Eligibility requirements

For team awards, applicants should hold outstanding achievement of the CityU Men's and Women's Badminton teams in inter-collegiate competitions. For athlete awards, applicants must satisfy the following criteria: demonstrated good sports performance and achievements in local or international competitions; have proven leadership and sportsmanship in the CityU badminton team; and obtained satisfactory academic performance in a UGC-funded programme.

CCCU Sports Scholarships for Elite Athletes

Eligibility requirements

The scholarships shall be disbursed to the recipients by two equal installments in middle of Semester A while the disbursement of the 2nd installment in Semester B is subject to the condition of the students who can achieve: a. a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at 2.0 or above by the end of Semester A or B of the year; and b. satisfactory sports performance as determined by the Physical Education Section of Student Development Services.

Fang Brothers Whole Person Development Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Awarded to those who have undertaken studies in the following majors: computer engineering, electronic and communication engineering, or information engineering. Applicants must have demonstrated outstanding performance and contribution in the seven areas of whole person development (i.e. in spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, career and emotional aspects); and demonstrated special talents or special contributions to community. They must also have attained satisfactory academic performance.

MBE Scholarship for Non-JUPAS Entrants

Eligibility requirements

Awarded to those who are admitted to one of the department's UGC-funded full-time programmes through the non-JUPAS route. It will be awarded primarily based on the academic merit of nominees, who should obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in associate degree or distinction award in higher diploma or equivalent. Other areas such as leadership potential, non-academic achievements, community services and personal qualities will be taken into consideration as well.

Year End Table Tennis Awards

Eligibility requirements

Nomination(s) shall be made by the coaches of CityU Sports Teams, and winners of the awards shall be selected by Selection Panel chaired by the Associate Director (Physical Education) of Student Development Services by April of each year. 3. Confirmation will be made with Physical Education Section of Student Development Services in June/July on whether or not the Awards will be continued for the following academic year.

  • be recommended by either a Sports Club, or a National Sports Association, or the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

Department of Computer Science Entrance Grants

Eligibility requirements

1.          The awards shall be known as “The Department of Computer Science Entrance Grants”.

2.         There shall be two awards in maximum.  The maximum value of each award shall be HK$10,000. The amount shall be used to settle the payment of the tuition fee for the BSc (Hons) Computer Science programme.

3.                 The awards shall be given to students with outstanding entrance qualifications admitted into the BSc (Hons) Computer Science Year 1 programme through direct application.

4.                 Nominations from the Department of Computer Science shall reach the Student Development Services by the end of January 2016 and the awards shall be made before the end of March 2016.  The Department reserves the right to withhold the number of nominees.

5.                 Confirmation will be sought with the Department of Computer Science before July each year on whether or not the donations will be continued for the following academic year.

Stephen Hui Outstanding Student Athletes Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Eligible applicants for the scholarships shall be full-time students who are successfully admitted to the University in 2015/16 and will join the University’s sports teams and participate in training and races.  The scholarships shall be disbursed to the recipients by two equal installments by crediting to students’ personal bank account. The first instalment is payable in middle of Semester A while the second is payable in the end of Semester B subject to the condition of the students who can achieve: a. a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at 2.0 or above by the end of Semester A of the year; and b. satisfactory sports performance as determined by the Physical Education Section of Student Development Services.  The Physical Education Section may reserve the right to withhold the payment for Semester B if student does not make satisfactory sports performance and team contribution in Semester A of the academic year.

The award shall be granted to a full-time student athlete who: 1. is successfully admitted to the University in 2015/2016 academic year with talent in table tennis; and 2. join the University’s sports team and participate in training and USFHK competition.
