We all have some rationale behind leaving our comfort zone and going abroad, be it for job or higher studies or to find a better comfort zone. If you get everything done in a nick of time, you are lucky! If no, you are still lucky because you get to know how to get everything done.

Studying abroad is a serious business; it also depends on which country you want to study in. Majority of my friends considered pursuing higher studies in the United States. There are many possible reasons: one being you can always return back to India with flying colours or be a part of the global marketplace. According to the Institute of International Education’s Open Doors report, the number of international students choosing to study in the US rose to a record high of 886,052 in 2013–14.

In this article, we give you an idea on why Indian students think that the US could be a suitable option for them. If you are done with your soul searching, read this piece of info:

Live life, big size!

The US is a huge country, in terms of not only the size of skyscrapers but also the reach of universities. It has majority of top-notch universities in the world. As a student, you get to face life in a bigger way, inculcate yourself with new ideas and become better as days pass by. The country has witnessed world-class leaders and delivered upbeat services in fields like education, medicine, technology, politics and social welfare.

Cocktail buddies!

Indian students prefer US as their study abroad destination because of its varied culture – Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, etc. – which helps them to indulge in different activities and share interests and knowledge of other cultures. The best part is you get to understand the language; US English intonation is different from that of normal English. As a foreigner, you may need to bridge the cultural and communication gap which will teach you to be more responsible.

Technology & Innovation

The hub of technology is here. Crazy and fast-paced brains with innovative ideas could be found since the country is inhabited by diverse cultures. Popular scientific inventions and discoveries have been the brainchild of universities like Caltech, Harvard, Stanford, MIT, UCLA, Yale, and others. Esteemed faculty and world-class facilities are here to stay!

Eat your research!

Doyens who changed the world like Carl Sagan, Thomas Edison, Barbara McClintock, and many more, had their impressions left behind. It becomes a privilege to learn more about their great works while studying in the country.

Far away from the madding crowd!

Most of the US universities are located in small towns and cities, with picturesque locations, and those places are remarkably beautiful and accessible from the commercial hotspots. You may want a life in Manhattan or Times Square, but a life in a small town is incredibly self-satisfying and interesting.

Just beat it!

The US universities teach their students how to be independent thinkers, be it in doing a simple homework or giant projects. The style of education is very different with hands-on learning experience. As an undergraduate, you get to stay at universities for 4 years. Besides you can also opt for a minor subject in addition to your majors. Not only full degree programmes, but also short-term or certificate programmes are on offer, for international students to enhance their professional credentials. Moreover, majority of colleges and universities in the US have numerous funding opportunities available for international students.

Economic stability

People in US have a flexible and practical approach towards life, and their temperament may help you in sustaining your personal and professional goals. The unemployment rate is lower than other countries, and most Indian students feel that the US is the best place to work after study.

Life outside everyday life!

Your mind is not restricted to a mundane study-oriented life; you explore more in terms of your hobbies and other passions. The love for Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and Prince surfaces during university and college festivals. Usually, universities abroad have many clubs and organizations which help international students hone their talents.

Networking

Get in touch with locals; they are open-minded. As a student studying in the US, you develop cross-cultural networks and learn how to understand other ethnicities once you start communicating with them. So be welcoming and free and let the world come to you!

Easy entry!

US visa rules are flexible, making it easier for international students to gain entry to the country. Visa is flexible till 5 years; in certain colleges and universities the visa is extended till 24 months post completion of the degree, especially in STEM field.

Post Brexit chances are that Indian students will head towards US for their future. The short-term or long-term effects are still unknown. Why don't you share your thoughts with us? Just leave your comments below.
