Most good universities in USA look for overall good profile which includes academics, work experience, GMAT score, etc. Hence, it will be good to have couple of years of work experience at managerial level and good GMAT score.
Apply a year in advance and fulfill all document requirements which include SOP, Essay, Recommendation, Transcripts, Financial documents, etc.
All the best!
