Are the tutorials, course materials and exams in Bahasa Malaysia or English? When does the semester start every year? How often does an external student required to attend tutorials at UM per academic year? Besides the core subjects, how many optional subjects must be taken? Thanks for clarifying.

Hi, Bachelor of Jurisprudence (External) University of Malaya is an academic degree and is recognized by 'Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam' and the Qualifying Board, which allows students to sit for the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) examination. Students are provided with a complete set of notes at the start of each module. Self assessment exercises allow students to review their learning. Besides the core subjects there are Islamic Law II, Family Law, Industrial Relations in Malaysia, Commercial Transaction, Labor Laws, Banking Law, Insurance Law etc. You should contact the faculty at the University regarding optional subjects to be taken.  The semester starts in September and in February.
