Encouraging candidates to pursue their dreams is something that comes naturally to a parent, but what if there were hurdles they are unable to cross over? Well, when talking about education, the Government of India and other foreign countries have been striving to help candidates go for it and accomplish great things in life. One such Government is the Swedish Government. They provide scholarship for highly qualified students from developing countries to pursue their BS or MS degree in Sweden.
Every year academic scholarships are extended to International students, but with certain pre-requisites in place. Infact, the Government of India signs a Cultural Exchange program with the foreign country for the purpose of education across various streams and for training as well.
The courses offered in Sweden however start around August of every year and the deadline for applying for this scholarship is around March of every year. Most of the scholarships are for master’s level but a few are provided for bachelor’s degree. Close to 600 different varieties of programs are available at the Swedish universities for scholarship.
The programs have been selected by the Swedish universities in order to cover a wide range of study areas. 120 scholarships have been awarded every year. There is no age limit to apply for this scholarship and the applicant should not have lived in Sweden for two years or more before applying for the scholarship. The applicant should not possess a Swedish work permit or permanent residence. The student should not been the benefactor of a Swedish scholarship for a master’s program or a research program or should not already have a master’s degree from a Swedish university.
It is to be noted that Swedish Government offers highest number of scholarships for post Graduate studies and Masters program, but with an exception of a few under graduate courses.
The scholarship is offered under two different categories,
- For those training officers who are going to Sweden for short to medium term programs
- For students and trainees looking at Short to medium term courses that are between one year to two years only.
The student should first complete the application process in the Swedish university or college before applying for the scholarship. The application process happens between beginning of December and mid January. The scholarship online service opens as soon as the results of the Swedish university admission results are announced. The application period for the scholarship happens during mid march. It is important to keep track of the dates and events and the announcements by periodically visiting the official website.
