EPCOR Essential Elements of Excellence Award

Awarded to students entering MacEwan University for the first time into a full-time certificate, diploma, applied degree, baccalaureate degree or university transfer program.

Eligible students will be from outside the capital city region and metropolitan Calgary. Priority will be given to applicants from rural areas.

Students must demonstrate participation in activities that work towards conservation, the care and tending of natural resources and/or improving the community in which you live.

Awarded annually to a student enrolling in the Bachelor of Physical Education – University Transfer program.

Applicant must possess a minimum average of 75% based on high school transcripts.

Applicant must have the stated goal of completing a Bachelor of Physical Education and becoming a teacher of Physical Education at a primary or secondary level.

Applicant must have been active in organized hockey in the greater Edmonton area competing at the Midget level.

Applicant must have demonstrated leadership on athletic teams as evidenced by letters of support from coaching staff.

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf administers a number of scholarships varying in amounts from $500 to $1000. AIMTAC Scholarship for Musical Excellence

These awards will be available during the Fall Festival Music Competition (usually held in November) and the Spring Conservatory Scholarship Competition (usually held in April). In order to be considered for these awards a student must: be enrolled in Alberta College Conservatory of Music, MacEwan University; be registered for a minimum of 10 hours of private instruction in the current school year - this criterion can be waived for Fall Festival Scholarships; exhibit a high degree of musical excellence and/or musical promise as adjudicated at the Fall Festival Music Competition or the Spring Conservatory Scholarship Competition.

If more than one award is available then age categories, musical discipline or style of music may be used as criteria to determine multiple award recipients. Students will be required to fill out the appropriate application form which will be made available through the Alberta College Conservatory of Music. Closing date for application will be announced each year when the Fall Festival Music Competition and the Spring Conservatory Scholarship Competition announcements are made public.

Ada Mackenzie Memorial Foundation Bursary

The Ada Mackenzie Memorial Foundation (AMMF) was set up in memory of Miss Ada Mackenzie, who was one of Canada's premier female amateur athletes who passed away in 1971. The aim of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance to athletes with a disability. Funds are made available through CWSA every two years to wheelchair athletes attending an educational institution to assist them in their competitive endeavours. One recipient of funds raised by the Foundation is the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association (CWSA).

The number of athletes and amount of the awards receiving the AMMF Awards will be determined each year based upon the level of funds available and the number of qualified athletes.
