Evans Drum Scholarship

Study level

Undergraduate

Eligibility requirements

Students must be enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Drums) program and should demonstrate overall outstanding musicianship and stylistic versatility. The scholarship is applicable for applicants enrolled in the Drum performance program only. U.S or non-U.S citizen’s students are eligible.

Application details

To be considered for an Evans Drum Scholarship, they must complete an Evans Drum Scholarship application and submit the application for Admissions by the scholarship application deadline and must be entering the program for the first time. They must submit a video recording (DVD format only) of them performing three stylistically diverse songs on the drum set. It is recommended that this include two live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one drum solo performance. Application deadline for programs beginning in fall 2012 is Aug/24

Total scholarship amount will be $1000 each and credited towards the first quarter’s tuition

ESP Guitar Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Students must be enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program and must demonstrate outstanding musicianship in the Rock genre. U.S or non-U.S citizen’s students are eligible. This scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the Guitar performance program only.

Application details

To be considered for an ESP Guitar Scholarship, applicants must complete an ESP Guitar Scholarship application. They must submit a video recording (DVD format only) performing three (3) diverse songs (in any style within the Rock genre) on their instrument. It is recommended that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) solo piece. They may use electric and/or acoustic guitars. All materials must be submitted in a complete package and mailed to Musicians Institute Scholarship Department, 6752 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028. Application deadline for programs beginning in fall 2012 is Aug/24.

ESP Bass Scholarship

Musicianship Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

New instrument and vocals students must have enrolled in the Bachelor of Music, Associate of Arts, or Certificate in Performance Programs and should demonstrate outstanding musicianship. Both US and non-US students are eligible. Students should be enrolled in performance (instrument and vocals) programs only.

Application details

Scholarship applicants must submit a materially complete application for Admissions by the scholarship application due date and must be entering for the program for the first time. Students must submit a completed application including an essay explaining why they should be considered for the scholarship and a video recording displaying their performing skills. Video requirements vary by program. All materials must be submitted in a complete package and mailed to Musicians Institute Scholarship Department, 6752 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028. Application deadline for programs beginning in fall 2012 is Aug/24.

Value details

Total scholarship amount will be divided by the total number of quarters in the particular program and credited toward each quarter’s tuition in equal amounts for as long as the student maintains a GPA of 3.5

W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be newly-enrolled AA (Vocal) students only. They should have enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Vocal) program and must demonstrate overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own unique voice in any style. Preference will be given to veterans, but this is not required for eligibility. They shall be US citizen or non-US citizen. They must maintain enrollment at 12 units (full time status) during the full length of award period. The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the AA Vocal performance program only.

Application details

Applicants must complete a W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship application. They must also provide proof of military service and the completed application form including their Video Recording. Applicants must submit a video recording (DVD format only) of them performing three songs in the any genre. They are required to include two live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one solo a capella performance. Students must submit the application by Aug/24.

$2000 tuition credit ($1000 per quarter for the first two consecutive quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress).

Seymour Duncan Bass Scholarship

Study level

Eligibility requirements

Intermediate or advanced student must have enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Bass) program and should demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, passion for the instrument and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in any style or genre. They must also demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is applicable for students newly enrolled in the Bass Performance program only. Students must maintain enrollment at 12 units (full time status) during the full length of award period. U.S or non-U.S citizen’s students are eligible.

Application details

Students must provide the completed application form including verifiable financial need (submit 2011 tax return or other means of income verification). Students must submit a video recording (DVD format only) of their performing three (3) songs in any genre on the electric bass. It is recommended that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) bass solo performance. All materials must be submitted in a complete package and mailed to Musicians Institute Scholarship Department, 6752 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028. Application deadline for programs beginning in fall 2012 is Aug/24.

U.S or non-U.S citizen’s students are eligible. Students must be enrolled in guitar performance program only to be eligible for this scholarship.

To be considered for a D'Addario Guitar Scholarship, applicants must complete a D'Addario Guitar Scholarship application. They must submit the application for admissions by the scholarship application deadline and must be entering the program for the first time. They must submit a video recording (DVD format only) of them performing three diverse songs (in any style on their instrument). It is recommended that this include two live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one solo piece. They may use electric and/or acoustic guitars. All materials must be submitted in a complete package and mailed to Musicians Institute Scholarship Department, 6752 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028. Independent Artist Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Students must be enrolled in the Artist Certificate Program and should demonstrate outstanding talent. Both U.S and non-U.S citizen students are eligible.

Application details

Scholarship applicants must submit the application for admission prior to the scholarship due date and must be entering the program for the first time. To be considered for the Independent Artist Scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application including: an audio recording containing the songs that they submitted with their original application to the program plus at least two and up to five more (formats accepted: Audio CD, AIFF, WAV, mp3, AAC); a detailed credit list for all songs submitted including who performed on each instrument, who engineered, and who produced; If they are the author of any lyrics performed or submitted with this application, include a lyric sheet for each song; a 1-2 page essay describing their short and long-term career objectives. They must also include specific information about how they plan to meet their objectives. In addition to the above, they must submit only one of the following three items: a video recording containing a minimum of 2 original songs in a solo performance or in a band/ensemble setting (formats accepted: DVD, quicktime /.mov, mpeg, VHS); complete multi-track audio files of two original recordings (these may be the same songs submitted above) Formats accepted: Apple Logic, Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, Ableton Live, bounced individual audio files); a video recording of less than 15 minutes documenting their writing/creative process (formats accepted: DVD, quicktime /.mov, mpeg, VHS). Application deadline for programs beginning in fall 2012 is Aug/24.
