QMUL-Chevening Scholarships and Partner Awards

Chevening Scholarships are available for students from all nationalities. All Chevening awards cover full overseas tuition fees, as well as providing a stipend for living costs, air-fares, and a variety of other expenses. Chevening Scholars also benefit from a year-long programme of events helping you experience the best of British culture and to make the most of your time in the UK. There are two types of award on offer at QMUL: QMUL-Chevening Scholarships A large number of these awards will be available across all one-year QMUL masters courses. QMUL-Chevening Partner Awards In addition to the QMUL-Chevening Scholarships, QMUL also supports an additional seventeen QMUL-Chevening Partner Awards. Applications for all scholarships must be made directly to the Chevening: full details on how to apply are available on the Chevening’s webpages. In order to be considered for a QMUL-Chevening Partner Award, candidates are encouraged to place QMUL as their first choice university. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 8 November 12:00 GMT. Candidates should also apply for their chosen Masters programme at QMUL through our online portal in the normal way. Candidates are encouraged to QMUL as early as possible to ensure that their application can be processed in a time to meet the Chevening’s deadline for the confirmation of their unconditional university offer in July 2017.

LLM Law and Economics Partial Scholarships

The Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) and the School of Economics and Finance are offering two partial scholarships worth 50 per cent of the tuition fee each to outstanding Home/EU and overseas full time candidates. These partial scholarships will be deducted from tuition fees payable to the college. The successful candidates will be selected based on academic merit and / or relevant work experience only.

Asylum Seekers Bursary

You must be an asylum seeker, the child of an asylum seeker or hold Discretionary Leave to Remain. You must be ineligible to obtain funding from the Student Loan Company. You must have firmly accepted a place on an undergraduate course in the Faculty of Science & Engineering or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. You must not already hold an equivalent or higher qualification. The bursaries will provide: £1,571 QMUL Bursary per year plus £7,097 living cost grant per year for those living in a parental home; or £11,002 living cost grant per year for those living independently, plus full tuition fee waiver.

Asylum Seekers Fee Concession

Queen Mary University of London is pleased to offer a tuition fee concession to all asylum seekers or children of asylum seekers who meet the criteria below. While your asylum application is under consideration by the Home Officer, you will be entitled to pay the ‘home’ rate of tuition fees. This fee concession will be available to all undergraduate students on all programmes, except those course offered by the School of Medicine and Dentistry that lead to qualified status as a doctor, dentist, or dental hygienist or therapist. To be considered for an asylum seekers fee concession, you must meet the following requirements: - you or your parent/guardian or spouse/partner must have submitted an asylum or human rights application, which is awaiting a decision from the Home Office; - have applied for asylum before applying to study at university; - hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study at Queen Mary University of London in the following academic year AND accepted this firmly; - not have completed undergraduate degree level study elsewhere.

International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. They apply to all postgraduate taught courses offered by the following Schools: School of Biological and Chemical Sciences School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science School of Engineering and Materials Science School of Physics and Astronomy School of Mathematical Sciences (MSc Network Science only) The scholarship is worth £5,000. To be eligible to receive the scholarship students must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent. For overseas equivalents please refer to the website. Eligibility criteria You must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent. You must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees. This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol in an eligible course in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the 2017/18 academic year. You must not be in receipt of any other College scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source, eg Chevening. If you are awarded the £5,000 scholarship it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses. The School of Economics and Finance is pleased to offer up to 60 scholarships to outstanding applicants. The scholarship value is £5,000 (slightly more for MSc Economics students) and is open to all postgraduate taught courses in the School. Scholarships will be awarded on purely on the basis of demonstrated potential for academic excellence on the programme applied. QMUL International Science and Engineering Excellence Scholarships

The ISEEA scholarships have a value of £5,000 for each year of study, provided as a fee waiver – a total of up to £15,000 over a three-year course if renewal criteria are met (or £20,000 for MEng students). The scholarship will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the university. Please note the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences has a limit of five Excellence Scholarships available to overseas students for entry 2017. These scholarships will be awarded to the highest-achieving applicants who accept Queen Mary as their firm choice and meet the Eligibility Criteria. The remaining Schools do not have a limit on the number of scholarships available. This scholarship is worth £5,000 per year and is renewable if eligibility criteria is met. To be eligible to receive the scholarship students must have achieved grades of AAA at A-Level, 36 IB points with 6, 6, 6 at Higher Level, or overseas equivalent. The scholarships are available for the following degrees: Economics (L100), Economics and Finance (LN13), Economics, Finance and Management (LN12), as well as the two joint programmes where Economics and Finance is considered the ‘home school’: Economics and Politics (LL12), and Economics, Statistics and Mathematics (LG11). Each Scholarship is worth up to £9,000, as it consists of an annual £3,000 bursary that can be continued into the 2nd and 3rd year on the basis of good academic performance.
