Centre for Research Excellence for the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood PhD Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • have completed a bachelor degree with first-class honours (H1) or an equivalent qualification. If you're not sure if your qualifications are equivalent to first-class honours, check our guidelines for determining honours equivalence.
  • meet the entry requirements for a PhD at QUT
  • plan to conduct research on a topic that aligns with the objectives of the Centre for Research Excellence for the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood (CRE-EPOCH). Your topic will need to be approved by the centre.
  • be able to enroll as a full-time PhD student unless QUT approves a part-time scholarship due to exceptional circumstances. If you are an international student, you must enroll full-time.

You can't apply if you:

  • hold a research doctorate degree or equivalent research qualification
  • are receiving an equivalent award, scholarship or salary to complete a research degree that provides a benefit greater than 75% of this scholarship's stipend rate.

Conditions

This scholarship is awarded for a 3-year term for doctoral studies. QUT has the strong expectation that, with an appropriately scoped project and consistent effort, you will complete your work and submit your thesis for external examination within this timeframe.

We will monitor your annual progress reports and degree milestones to ensure that you continue to meet the eligibility requirements of the scholarship.

You must notify our Research Students Centre as soon as possible of any change in your circumstances that may affect your eligibility to receive any scholarship entitlements.

School of Accountancy Honours Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • have applied for and received an offer to study a Bachelor of Business (Honours) (Accountancy)
  • be enrolled to study full-time.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you hold another scholarship.

You must apply for and receive an offer for a Bachelor of Business (Honours) (Accountancy) before you can apply for a scholarship: Complete the application form; submit your completed application form using the contact details on the form. We might request that you meet additional eligibility.

Value details

If you're a domestic student (Australian citizen or permanent visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen), you'll receive: a scholarship of AUD $8,000 for one year, paid in two installments over two semesters. If you're an international student, you'll receive: a scholarship of AUD $10,000 for one year, paid in two installments over two semesters.

Urban Cultural Policy and the Changing Dynamics of Cultural Production

You must:

  • be eligible to enroll in a PhD (hosted by our Science and Engineering Faculty). For international applicants, there is an English proficiency requirement.

You must hold either one of:

  • a domestic or international qualification that is comparable to an Australian masters degree by research
  • a domestic or international qualification that is comparable to an Australian masters degree by coursework, with a significant research component (normally not less than 25% and a grade point average (GPA) score of 5 or above on a 7-point scale).

You must also have:

  • an excellent academic record in an urban studies field (e.g. urban planning, geography, sociology), cultural policy, or closely related discipline
  • an understanding of the academic and policy debates around urban cultural policy, cultural and creative industries, and/or urban economic development
  • excellent writing and oral communication skills.

Proficiency in GIS and/or statistical software (SPSS, STATA) is preferred but not required.

Faculty of Education International Student Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

You can apply for this scholarship if you're an international student and you: have received an offer to study a Master of Education (EU70) (majoring in early years, inclusive education, general studies, leadership and management, or TESOL); are commencing your studies in the upcoming semester. You can't apply if you're: enrolled in a research degree; sponsored by an Australian or overseas organization; already receiving a scholarship provided by QUT or another organisation.

provide transcripts for previous academic studies, translated into English and certified

write a one-page outline in English addressing:

  • the reasons for your choice of degree
  • your academic performance and achievement to date
  • why and how the scholarship will help you achieve your education and career goals

  • any other considerations that would make you a worthy recipient of the scholarship.

  • be researching within the fields of chemistry or physics

To keep your scholarship, you must:

  • maintain a full-time enrolment in your honours degree
  • maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 5 (on a 7-point scale).

School of Economics and Finance Honours Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Our School of Economics and Finance offers two general honours scholarships, as well as a National Centre for Econometric Research (NCER) Honours Scholarship, which has additional eligibility criteria.

You can apply for both scholarships, if you are eligible. But if you're selected for more than one scholarship, you'll be asked to choose which one you will accept.

Economics and Finance Honours Scholarships

To be eligible for the School of Economics and Finance Honours Scholarship, you must:

have applied for and received an offer to study a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in the School of Economics and Finance

enroll to study full-time.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you hold another scholarship, including a Dean's Honours Program Scholarship.

National Centre for Econometric Research (NCER) Honours Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

have applied for and received an offer to study a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in the School of Economics and Finance

enroll to study full-time

have achieved a grade of 7 in the unit Introductory/Applied Econometrics (EFB333)

choose to research an area of econometrics.

Step 2: Apply for a scholarship

Complete the application form and indicate which scholarships you want to apply for. QUT Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA)

Apply for a research course by 28 February 2017 and indicate on your application that you wish to be considered for a scholarship as part of our early targeted scholarship round. You'll be considered for all scholarships you're eligible for. If you were considered in our last annual scholarship round (which closed 30 September 2016), you will be automatically considered for this early targeted round.

John Stainton Productions Bursary

Eligibility requirements

You must be:

  • enrolled in either:
  • Bachelor of Entertainment Industries
  • Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Creative Industries with entertainment industries major
  • be eligible to undertake a work integrated learning unit in Semester 1, 2017.

Conditions

You'll be expected to use the bursary to undertake a work integrated learning unit and an internship with Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival. The arrangements for the internship will be organized by the Creative Industries Faculty.

You must:

  • remain enrolled full-time in your course
  • maintain a passing grade point average (GPA).

Application details

You must complete and send to the Creative Industries Scholarships team:

  • an application form
  • a cover letter detailing how the internship will contribute to your career plans
  • a current CV showing personal and educational achievements.

You'll also need to apply for the film festival internship through the Work Integrated Learning Program.

What happens next

We will shortlist written applications according to:

  • your cover letter
  • academic merit
  • personal and education achievements
  • a desire for a career in the entertainment industries.

This may then be followed by a personal interview with shortlisted applicants.

The bursary will be presented to the students at an appropriate faculty level or industry ceremony.

Student Exchange Bursary (QUT Business School)

To be considered for this bursary, apply for the student exchange program through the QUT Exchange Office. You don't need to apply separately to the QUT Business School for the bursary.

Value details

You'll receive: a bursary bonus of up to AUD $3,000, paid on top of the standard international exchange bursary, which you can use to cover any expenses on your exchange. Up to 2 scholarships are available at each institution. The maximum amount you can receive from the international exchange bursary and scholarship bonus combined is AUD $5,000. The amount for the international exchange bursary varies from year to year. In previous years, it has ranged between AUD $2,000 and AUD $2,500.

Triple Crown Scholarship for International Graduates in Australia

  • have completed a qualifying course in Australia with the required academic results
  • meet minimum English language entry requirements of IELTS 6.5 (no sub scores below 6) or equivalent for direct admission to the degree program. If you are completing an English preparation course at QUT, you may be eligible for this scholarship once you have met the English language requirements
  • apply for and are accepted into either the Master of Business or Master of Business/Master of Business
  • apply for your masters course before the end of 2016
  • have a recognized comparable bachelor degree award with a grading scale approximately equivalent to a grade point average (GPA) of 6 on a 7-point scale.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if:

  • you study the Graduate Certificate in Business and Communication pathway course.

Short Term Overseas Study Program

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • be enrolled in an eligible business course
  • have completed at least 96 credit points if you're an undergraduate student, or at least 48 credit points if you're a postgraduate student
  • have at least one semester full-time (or equivalent) still to complete when you return to QUT
  • be able to pay travel and living expenses while you're on exchange
  • meet minimum GPA requirements.

We will advertise opportunities to all students at QUT Business School as they become available. We'll provide further eligibility criteria and details closer to the application date. You can submit an expression of interest as opportunities become available.

Equity Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Bursaries

  • undertaking a work integrated learning (WIL) placement.

You can't apply for this bursary if you're a:

  • single-unit study student
  • cross-institutional student
  • QUT International College (QUTIC) student.

Application details

You'll need to contact International Student Services. They will assess your financial situation and determine your eligibility for a WIL bursary. All appointments are confidential and free. You will need to provide some documentation so we can assess your eligibility for a WIL bursary. We will discuss this with you at your appointment. Most documents can be accessed using a smart device or computer. Before we approve the bursary, we'll check your enrolment status to make sure that you're still enrolled and eligible. We'll email you to let you know what to do next.
