Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • have completed a master degree or four-year bachelor (honours) degree in one of the following disciplines: aerospace/mechanical/civil engineering or equivalent
  • have a solid background in solid mechanics, composite structures, and finite element analysis
  • have experience in computer programming and preferably molecular dynamics simulation
  • be able to commence research as soon as possible
  • meet the RMIT entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy
  • enrol in a postgraduate research (PhD) degree as full-time students.

RMIT Cultural Visions Film Grant

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this grant you must:

  • be enrolled in a vocational education (certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma) or a higher education (associate, bachelor, or honours degree) program at RMIT University in 2016
  • submit an application package that will be assessed by a Selection Panel, which should include:
  1. a three minute sample of your film work
  2. a three-page project proposal that includes a description of the film you’re pitching, reason for choosing your project, a risk assessment of the project, a statement of benefit of the project to the location and people involved (Australia or overseas) and the medium which will be used to film the project
  • be available to attend an interview if shortlisted
  • be able and committed to produce the actual short film/documentary piece* by the end of February 2017.

To be eligible for this grant you must:

  • be an higher degree by research candidate
  • have submitted or will submit a thesis/project for examination by within the designated period
  • not have received your thesis/project examination result or qualified to graduate by the application close date
  • write publications (scholarly, refereed articles or books) for publication based on your submitted thesis/project for a research degree.
  • have the support of your supervisor who will actively oversee the writing and publication progress during the HDRPG.

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will only be considered for scholarship if you have previous publications or significant research experience. All other applicants will be considered ineligible.

Value details

A stipend of AUD $29,288 per annum pro rata (full-time mode) which is equivalent to the Government APA rate of AUD $26,288 plus an RMIT top up of AUD $3000; a relocation allowance for the cost of relocating in order to take up your research program, up to AUD $515 per adult and AUD $255 per child to a maximum of AUD $1540

Biomedical Engineering Top-Up Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • to have obtained a letter of offer for a Masters by Research or PhD degree at RMIT University in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering by the closing date of 31 December 2016. Please refer to the instructions on how to apply for postgraduate research OR
  • already hold an offer letter from RMIT to do a Masters by Research or a PhD in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • possess good fundamental knowledge in signal processing, experimental design or intelligent systems.
  • possess excellent mathematical skills (probability theory and statistics, algebra, complex analysis)
  • possess good programming skills in Matlab, C
  • should have good teamwork skills
  • should have good oral and written communication skills in English language.

Vice-Chancellor's PhD Scholarship (VCPS)

Eligibility requirements

To be considered for a VCPS scholarship you must hold, or be currently completing:

  • a Master by research
  • a Master by coursework with a significant research component graded as high distinction, or equivalent
  • a Honours degree achieving first class honours
  • a 4 year bachelor degree achieving a GPA of 4 or equivalent (80 per cent or above).

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will only be considered for scholarship if you have previous publications or significant research experience. All other applicants will be considered ineligible.

In addition to the above, to be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia, or an international candidate who is commencing in an RMIT PhD program from 1 January 2017
  • have applied for a full-time PhD program at RMIT.

Part-time VCPS may be approved for candidates with exceptional circumstances (e.g. for medical reasons or due to significant care commitments). Part-time scholarships are not tax exempt.  

You will be considered ineligible for a VCPS if:

  • you have already commenced your PhD program at RMIT
  • you already hold a research doctorate, or an equivalent research qualification
  • you are currently receiving another equivalent award, scholarship or research related salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the 2016 APA base rate to undertake the research degree.
  • you have not met the English requirements by the close of the main scholarship round (international only)
  • you have not received a program offer to commence in a PhD program in 2017, by the close of the main scholarship round (international only).

To be eligible for this scholarship you must: be enrolled in a higher degree by research (HDR) at the RMIT School of Electrical and Computer Engineering; be a top ranking student using the RMIT University 2015 Scholarships Ranking Model; awarded an APA or RMIT PhD Scholarship and/or an RTS place; be aligned to one of the school’s areas of strategic focus; not previously have held any Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) scholarship over the past three years (or more); demonstrate excellent academic results and research capability.
