Mert and Marcia Thompson Information Media Scholarship for Study Abroad

They must also be enrolled in Center for Information Media credit bearing courses either concurrently or prior to semester abroad and must possess a GPA of 3.25. Arvid Hansen Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Students must be a sociology or criminal justice major and must be in the junior or senior year with a GPA of 3.00 or above. They must demonstrate financial need.

Application details

Students must fill out an application form with their essays, biographical information, educational experience and extra curricular and community activities and return the application form via email to the criminal justice department. They must write a 500 - 750 word essay providing a description of their goals and their relationship to their education, and a statement addressing why they deserve and need the scholarship. An award committee consisting of faculty members from both sociology and criminal justice department will review the applications and will make the award later this spring.

Applicants must be foreign national studying at SCSU as an undergraduate student. They must have been a student at SCSU for at least one academic semester. American Indian Center Scholarship in Recognition of James Marsh

Eligibility requirements

Students must be a descendent from a federally recognized tribe. They must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits in good standing with a GPA of 2.5 or better. This scholarship honors the American Indian Center director’s grandfather.

American Indian Center accepts applications and determines awards. Scholarship application form must be postmarked or received by the first Monday in April. Applications may be picked up at the American Indian Center or online. Scholarships are applied to the fall tuition balance.

Freshman Scholarship for Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science and Information Technology

Eligibility requirements

Students must be incoming freshman. They must be intend to major in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or Computer Networking. Students must have completed at least three years of college preparatory mathematics at the time of application, including courses in basic algebra, advanced algebra, and geometry with grades of ‘A’. Students must have an overall high school grade average of at least a ‘B’. Student must be currently enrolled in a senior college preparatory mathematics class. Student must enroll in MATH 221 or equivalent during the next academic year.

Applications will be mailed to the high schools in March. Students should see the Department of Mathematics Chairperson (or school counselor) at their school for an application.

Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Students must be in F-1 or J-1 visa status and must maintain active F-1/J-1 status. Some students who are in programs with special tuition fees, such as the MBA program, are only eligible to receive the ACSS for courses paid at the regular university rates outside of their special programs. Students who meet both requirements in the previous semester are eligible. Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 as a graduate student.

Students must complete two (2) cultural sharing activities every semester and submit the online Cultural Activities Form by May 1 (to be eligible for the summer and fall scholarship) and December 15 (to be eligible for the spring scholarship).

Elizabeth L. Howard Scholarship for Women

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be undergraduate female students and must be at least 25 years old. They must demonstrate financial need. They must have demonstrated the ability to achieve academic success in college. Students may have been in the upper third of their high school graduating class or have 24 or higher on the ACT. If a transfer student, they should hold a GPA of 3.0 or better in previous recent college work. If, because of age or circumstance, none of these criteria apply, letters of recommendation and clear goal may be considered. Students must have a personal career goal requiring a college degree in order to help others directly, through teaching, a career in medicine, or a similar field. Students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits or as required

Marcia Summers Career Opportunity Scholarship for Single Mothers
