Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)- your passport to a degree abroad

What is CAE?

Cambridge English: Advanced, also known as Certificate in Advanced English (CAE),is recognised by many institutions abroad as a reliable and consistent proof of your ability to use English in demanding academic settings. Many Indian students are now taking the CAE as an alternative to the IELTS for applying to universities abroad.

The exam is run by Cambridge ESOL, the department of University of Cambridge which also produces the IELTS tests. CAE is accepted by nearly all the universities and colleges in the UK as proof of the right English skills for college and university study (the UK Border Agency accepts CAE for issuing Tier 4 student visas). The exam is also accepted by institutions in Australia and other countries around the world.

Most universities abroad who accept the CAE exam ask for a Grade B or C from their international applicants.

Why take the CAE?

Cambridge English: Advanced is an in-depth examination, covering all four language skills, plus a Use of English component that tests knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

Holders of CAE will have a level of English suitable to prepare professional correspondence, contribute effectively to meetings and seminars within their own area of work and are able to read quickly enough to cope with an academic course.
