Francille M. Firebaugh Study Abroad Scholarship 2016-2017

Undergraduate

Eligibility requirements

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

  • Having a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 and rank two (standing) at time of application
  • Active application to an Ohio State approved summer 2017, autumn semester 2017 or academic year 2017-2018 study abroad program. (Short-term programs that occur during breaks are not eligible for this scholarship)
  • Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a degree (major or minor) in international studies
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have not received another major study abroad scholarship (e.g. Wolfe Scholarship) from the Office of International Affairs.

Application details

A complete Francille M. Firebaugh Study Abroad Scholarship application package consists of the following:

1. Completed three-page Francille M. Firebaugh Study Abroad Scholarship application. (Link to application will be available soon.)
2. Copy of your advising report (available from Buckeye Link).

The Francille M. Firebaugh Study Abroad Scholarship application form and materials must be submitted as one PDF attached to an email sent to: firebaughscholarship@osu.edu.

Value details

Funds permitting, four (4) awards of approximately $1,000 each will be distributed to awardees participating in programming that meets the above mentioned criteria.

Asian Festival Corporation Scholarship for Study Abroad

Eligibility requirements

The Asian Festival Corporation Scholarship for Study Abroad will be awarded to full-time students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

  • Having a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Admission to an Ohio State approved study abroad program in Asia for summer term 2016 or academic year 2016-2017.
  • Preference shall be given to, but not limited to, candidates who are of Asian decent

2. One-page statement addressing how the study abroad program in Asia will enhance your academic and professional goals.
3. Copy of your advising report (available from Buckeye Link).
4. Letter of recommendation from an Ohio State instructor.

One award of approximately $2,500 will be distributed to awardee participating in programming that meets the above mentioned criteria.

Mershon Center Faculty Grants

Eligibility requirements

The Mershon Center for International Security Studies seeks applications from Ohio State University faculty for grants to support projects related to the study of national security in a global context. Junior faculty members are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty projects may involve travel, research, seminars, conferences, interviews, laboratory experiments, and policy-relevant workshops. To learn about some of the faculty projects currently funded by the Mershon Center, please see Areas of Expertise. Mershon-supported conferences and speaker series are listed by date in the Events section.

Faculty grant applications must include:

  • Standard cover sheet that includes 500-word abstract of the project.
  • Itemized budget.
  • Four- to five-page single-spaced statement elaborating the purpose, method, anticipated products, and significance of the project.
  • Curriculum vitae for each principal investigator.

Keith and Linda Monda International Experience Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Need-based scholarships open to Columbus campus undergraduate students with a declared major in the arts and sciences.  These scholarships are designed to support students who plan to study abroad and would not normally be able to afford an international experience.  Scholarships will be awarded toward costs associated with study abroad excluding tuition.  Financial need will be determined by the Financial Aid Office based on information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Awards are made twice each year.

Council of Graduate Students Global Gateway Graduate Student Research Aboard Grant

The Global Gateway Graduate Student Research Abroad Grant encourages and promotes the professional and academic development of graduate student researchers at The Ohio State University by providing financial support that allows students to undertake research abroad.* Students will be able to assist the University pursue its strategic international goals by creating and bolstering relations with universities and other institutions across the world.

Mershon Center Graduate Student Grants

The Mershon Center for International Security Studies seeks applications from Ohio State graduate students for grants to support travel and research on topics related to international security. 

Funds may be used for a variety of purposes related to the conduct of research including travel costs, food and lodging expenses, interview or library fees, survey costs, and other expenses.

Heritage Cooperative Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Income provides two scholarships for any Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) student interested in further study at OSU's agricultural business program in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). Students receiving these scholarships will have completed their academic work successfully at ATI and will have been accepted by CFAES for further studies.
