Aston, a research-led university, was founded in 1895. It has been recognised as a University since 1966 and is renowned for its excellent teaching quality and significant ties to industry, government and commerce. Based in the city centre of Birmingham, it boasts a 40-acre campus with academic, social and accommodation facilities. The University’s student population of 10,500 comes from more than 130 countries.
Assessed on a basis of graduate prospects, teaching and student satisfaction, Aston University is ranked 32nd in the UK in the Complete University Guide 2016. It also has several subjects ranking in the top ten including Pharmacology & Pharmacy (8th), Marketing (6th) and Optometry (1st). It is ranked 33rd in the 2016 Guardian rankings.
Aston's four Schools of Study offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and also work with the public and private sectors to develop tailored Foundation Degree programmes. Most of the bachelor’s degrees offer students the choice to study sandwich courses, which include a paid work placement or a study year at a partner institution abroad. The work placement provides students the opportunity to put knowledge into practice whilst gaining valuable professional experience to enhance employment prospects.

Aston Business School has close ties with India through strong industry links, research partnerships and its alumni community.
