About Brunel

About Brunel

Brunel University London, founded in 1966, is a campus-based university situated in Uxbridge, West London, and is home to nearly 15,000 students from over 100 countries worldwide.

A Research Intensive University

Brunel places great value on the usefulness of its research and offers students research- informed teaching. Research is responsible for much of the University’s collaborative work with business, industry and the public sector, providing opportunities for work experience, demonstrating its commitment to producing professionally-minded graduates that employers want to recruit.

The results of REF 2014 lift Brunel to 33rd among the UK’s universities for research power – a ranking that combines the University’s average research quality rating by number of submissions – up from 37th in 2008.

Location

The University is just a 20-minute walk – or a short bus ride – from Uxbridge underground station, so it is a straightforward journey into the centre of the capital. There is also a night bus that can bring students from central London to the edge of the campus. The town of Uxbridge itself, which still has buildings dating back to its time as a Georgian market town, is a thriving commercial and business centre. Its major shopping complexes, The Pavilions and intu Uxbridge, boast a wide range of shops, cafes and a nine-screen multiplex cinema.

For International Students

The big plus of living in a campus-based university is that the majority of student needs are catered for on-site, including the Library and Computer Centre, academic and teaching buildings, welfare services, catering and social facilities and even the halls of residence.

Brunel's halls of residence ensure students will only be minutes away from the teaching, sporting and social facilities. Each hall is unique in both character and design. The Brunel campus provides self-catering accommodation for approximately 4530 students in 33 halls of residence, which include 113 studio flats for co-habiting couples.

What’s On Offer:

  • Standard: single room with shared bath/shower facilities
  • En suite: single room with private bath/shower facilities
  • Studio flat: room for co-habiting couples with private kitchen and shower facilities.  Read More…

Students can organise most of their day-to-day needs without leaving the campus. There is a bank, a pharmacy, and a general shop where they can buy groceries, newspapers, stationery and even Oyster card top-ups (for travel) on campus. The Computer Centre sells a range of IT-related products such as printers, network cables, memory sticks and disks, and the Students’ Union hosts a weekly fruit and veg market and Fairtrade stalls. Degree well recognised in the working world

If you think for one second that work at university is too much and overbearing you will be in for a greater surprise when you join the world of work and you have a boss to answer to and not just getting a lower grade. I read full review

Supportive staff

I joined the BSc Multimedia Technology and Design course at Brunel in 2003 after transferring from another University purported to teach Multimedia Computing, but was essentially a computer science course.

Come to the UK well prepared

As far as academic advice is concerned what I would like to say is better get prepared for what you want to do on what field and then select the proper university according to the want.

If you are studying right now or you have completed your studies, then help future students by sharing your experiences.
