International Advanced Placement Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Awarded annually to students who have superior academic achievement and Advanced Placement Scholar standing (as defined by the College Board) who are entering their first undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta and studying on a Study Permit. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the Advanced Placement program.

University of Alberta International Baccalaureate Diploma Scholarship

Awarded to International Baccalaureate Diploma graduates with superior academic achievement entering or transferring into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the full IB diploma program.

Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation Award for International Students

Awarded to students(s) on Study Permit(s) with satisfactory academic standing registered in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. Selection based on academic standing. Preference given to student(s) who have demonstrated leadership via extracurricular and community involvement. Renewal of funding for subsequent years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a minimum of 24 credit units of course weight per year in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.

Should a renewable scholarship be offered, receipt of funding for the second, third, or fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship Competition

Eligibility requirements

Consideration for Academic Excellence Scholarships is based on your admission average at the time of admission offer. To be eligible for Academic Excellence Scholarships, you must:

  • Have an admission average of 90% or higher
  • Be entering the first year of full-time studies in an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta in September of the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Be entering university in one of the following ways:
    • Directly from high school with fewer than 24 IB, AP or A-level credits
    • Directly from high school with fewer than 12 credits of university course work taken during high school through Open Studies or a similar program at another accredited post-secondary institution
    • Following time taken off between high school and university, provided that no post-secondary credit was received during that time.

Students attending Campus Saint Jean will be offered the Academic Excellence Scholarship based on their program of enrolment as reflected in Bear Tracks. Please contact Student Connect for further information.

Students applying to the Faculty of Engineering will have scholarship offers based on the competitive average calculation based on only final Grade 12 grades.

Engineering students with an admission average above 95% who also apply for the Scholastic Distinction Competition will receive CAN $9,500.

Awards to Science students with admission averages from 93 - 94.9% will be guaranteed funding. Awards for admission ranges of 90 - 92.9% will be offered as funding is available.

Transfer Students are not eligible for this scholarship.
