Santander & University of Birmingham Scholarship

Student requirements

In order to apply, candidates must: be a national of and domiciled in, one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, USA, Venezuela; Priority will be given to students graduating from the Santander Universities network in Latin America or USA; be overseas for fee purposes; have applied for a one year full time masters course and have been issued with a student id number. Any application received without an id number will not be considered; must not be in receipt of a full fee scholarship from any other source; have made adequate financial provision to study in the UK. Minimum results required: Applicants must have an excellent academic background obtaining a good 2:1/Upper Second Class or equivalent bachelors degree as a minimum.

Neville Chamberlain Scholarship

Student requirements

This scholarship is open to new and current full-time PG and Research-based programmes only. Preference is given to international students and towards research in the Political and Social History of Great Britain, the British Empire and the Commonwealth from c. 1850. The funded subject areas are: American and Canadian Studies, Antiquity, Archaeology, Drama and Theatre Arts, English Language and Linguistics, English Literature, History, History of Art, Modern Languages and Cultures, Music.

This scholarship is open to students undertaking a current full-time PG Taught and research-based programmes in the College of Social Sciences (except Education). The funded subject areas are: Business, Economic Development and Regeneration, Economics, European Studies, Health Services Management, International Development, International Public Administration, International Relations, Local Government Studies, Marketing and Communications, Planning, Political Science, Russian and East European Studies, Social Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Teacher Training, Urban and Regional Studies.

TASS Scholarship

Student requirements

Scholars may study in any subject, and a variety of Paralympic, winter and summer sports are considered. In order to be considered, you must be achieving national recognition in a sport at least at U18 level. The value of the scholarship will vary depending on your sport, however in general the award will offer the following: Access to specialist support services at the University (sports science, sports medicine, and S&C); Access to training facilities; Funding towards elite coaching, competition, training costs and equipment; Mentoring; Series of talented athlete lifestyle workshops. TASS athletes at Birmingham also receive all the benefits of a UBSport Scholarship including free gym membership and swimming pool access.

BP STEM Scholarship

This scheme is open to undergraduate students entering the University on one of the approved STEM-related programmes. The scholarship is open to Home/EU and Overseas students. The subject areas are: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Physics and Astronomy.

Each scholarship is worth up to £20,000 with scholars receiving £5,000 per year for the duration of their degree (up to four years). The scholarship covers costs of resources and living.

Physics Sports Bursary

Student requirements

The Physics Sports Bursary is open to all sports people who have applied to study an undergraduate programme within the School of Physics & Astronomy. The Physics Sports Bursary is awarded in recognition of sporting talent to undergraduate students within the School, and to encourage them to continue to pursue their interest while studying at the University. This scholarship is renewable for each year depending on academic performance. It is possible to apply for both the University of Birmingham Sports Scholarships and the Physics Sport Bursary, though the Physics School Bursary will not be awarded to someone already receiving a University of Birmingham Sport or TASS scholarship.
