GREAT Surrey Scholarships - India

The GREAT Scholarship – India programme is aimed at high-calibre Indian students who want to study for a postgraduate programme in engineering. Funded by the University and the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign, up to six scholarships worth £5,000 (paid in the form of a fee discount) are being offered on postgraduate taught courses from the following subjects: •Chemical and Process Engineering •Chemistry •Civil and Environmental Engineering •Computer Science •Electrical and Electronic Engineering •Environment and Sustainability •Mathematics •Mechanical Engineering Sciences •Physics You can apply for a GREAT Surrey Scholarship if: •You hold a high first-class degree from an Indian university (the minimum requirement is 65 per cent from a prestigious university or 70 per cent from a regional university). •You hold an offer from Surrey to study any MSc course within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, as listed above (you must hold an offer before submitting an application for a scholarship)

To apply, you will need to complete the online form. As part of your application you will need to answer this question, in no more than 400 words: "Sometimes misunderstood, engineering is a profession offering endless creative possibilities. What inspires and excites you most about engineering (is it the opportunity to innovate…to be part of the future…to collaborate with other great minds?) and how do you hope to change the world for the better through engineering?" The final application deadline is Monday 20 June, 12pm GMT. Successful applicants will be notified by email after the closing date. To secure the offer, a deposit must be paid by the deposit deadline. The award will be paid in the form of a fee discount. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Final decisions on the eligibility of applicants and allocation of scholarships will be made by the University of Surrey’s International Student Recruitment Office and its Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

The BUNAC Educational Scholarship Trust (BEST) Scholarships

Student requirements

The BUNAC Educational Scholarship Trust (BEST) scholarships are open to UK passport holders who are currently or have been within the last five years inclusive, in full-time tertiary education at a UK university or college and who are planning to undertake postgraduate study in either the USA or Canada. Candidates cannot already be engaged in their course of study in North America at the time of application although they should be looking to apply to courses in their chosen field. £4,000 is available as the Christopher J. Harbour Memorial Scholarship to a candidate looking to do sports-related studies and £2,000 as the John S. Ball Award to a candidate looking to pursue a teaching or geography-related career.

Surrey Merit Scholarship

Surrey Merit Scholarship Our merit-based scholarship provides a £2,000 cash award and membership of Surrey Sports Park for the first year of study for eligible Undergraduate students in the following subjects: Electronic Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering Electronic Engineering Electronic Engineering with Audiovisual Systems Electronic Engineering with Communications Electronic Engineering with Computer Systems Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology Electronic Engineering with Space Systems Mathematics Financial Mathematics Mathematics Mathematics with Music Mathematics with Statistics Mechanical Engineering Sciences Aerospace Engineering Automotive Engineering Mechanical Engineering Medical Engineering Psychology Psychology The University will identify eligible students, so there is no application form for this scheme. Eligibility criteria: To qualify for the Surrey Merit Scholarship, students must achieve the following grades in one sitting: •A*AA at A-Level (excluding General Studies or Critical Thinking) or •38 points in the International Baccalaureate or •Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction in the BTEC QCF Extended Diploma or •AAAAA in Scottish Highers plus AA in Scottish Advanced Highers in relevant subjects or •A1A1A2A2A2A2 in Irish Highers or •D3, D3, D3 in the principle subjects in the Cambridge Pre-U The scholarship is open to UK/EU students who achieve the required grades in the qualifications listed above only, no other equivalent qualification will be considered for UK/EU students. International students with other overseas qualifications may be eligible - please contact the International Student Recruitment office at international@surrey.ac.uk to enquire. The scholarship is open to UK, EU and International students who select Surrey as their firm choice no later than 23 July 2016 and are paying the full £9,000 fees (UK/EU) or above (International students). International students who are being sponsored are not eligible. These scholarships are not available to students in receipt of another scholarship from the University. Note: If eligible, a student can also, however, hold a Full Surrey Award (means-tested bursary) in conjunction with this scholarship. Payment of the award will be made in equal instalments direct to eligible students’ bank accounts in December and March following entry. 2015 Chevening/Surrey Scholarship Award

The University of Surrey is proud to partner with the prestigious Chevening Scholarship scheme to co-fund one Chevening/Surrey Partnership Award for a candidate from Azerbaijan, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Mongolia, Namibia, Swaziland, Turkmenistan or Zimbabwe to study an MBA. These particular awards are being offered in addition to the main Chevening Awards. The top candidate will be offered a partnership award and all other successful candidates will have the chance to receive a Chevening Award through the main programme.

The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.

Hong Kong Scholarships of Excellence

Student requirements

DUO-Singapore Exchange Fellowship Award

Student requirements

Full-time undergraduate students from Singapore and ASEAN** members states going to European universities on the student exchange programme (SEP), and undergraduate students from partner universities in Europe coming to NUS on exchange, are eligible to apply for the DUO. Each selected undergraduate student will be awarded 4,000 euros for one semester or one year of exchange, which will partially subsidise the cost of airfare, accommodation, living expenses, etc. This award carries no obligatory bond period.

ICE Scholarship in Civil Engineering

About the scheme The scheme matches students with a suitable company mid way through their first year. The company will be responsible for their practical training throughout the course and will fund the scholarship. In return, students will spend a period training with them over the summer vacation at the end of each academic year. Our sponsors cover a wide range of Civil Engineering interests and each company is carefully matched with students based on the student's interests. The Scholarship is open to students who can demonstrate a real interest and enthusiasm for civil engineering, and who appreciate the benefits of integrated academic and industrial training. Eligibility All students interested in studying MEng or BEng Civil Engineering at Surrey can apply for the scholarship.

Application process Students should first apply to study at Surrey and then apply for the scholarship online or at an applicant day. If successful, students will then be invited to interviews. Interviews are held in London at the start of April and notification is given the following week. All offers of Scholarship are conditional to you joining one of the undergraduate Civil Engineering programmes at Surrey. Application deadline The application deadline was the 14th of March 2016 (standard entry route). A late application opportunity will be available during the first semester (October-November 2016) for those 1st year students who could not apply within the standard entry route.
