Application details

If you apply to undertake a postgraduate coursework program at UTS commencing either in Semester 1 or 2 in 2016, you will automatically be considered for this scholarship. You do not need to submit a separate scholarship application or documentation in addition to what is required for the coursework application.

MBA Scholarship for Outstanding International Students (Commencing)

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria: be an International student (neither an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen nor permanent resident of Australia); have completed a UTS recognised degree and met the UTS MBA entry requirements; be commencing the UTS Master of Business Administration (MBA) program (course code C04018) in the semester immediately following the Scholarship selection; and have achieved a minimum academic achievement of Distinction average (75 per cent) in their qualification used as a basis for admission to the MBA.

UTS: INSEARCH Doctoral Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

International applicants or applicants with an international background. An applicant must have been offered a PhD admission into the Business School for study as a full-time student. They must have a bachelor degree with first class honours or equivalent level of attainment. They must not already have a doctorate degree.

This scholarship comprises an annual tax-free stipend at the level of an Australian Postgraduate Award.

CSIRO Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships

The Flagships offer full and top-up Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships to high quality students who are enrolled in a PhD at an Australian university, and who will be working on a project which is directly relevant to a Flagship. Top-up scholarships will be the norm. Valued at A$7000 per annum, they are available to PhD students who have gained (or expect to gain) an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship.

International students are eligible to apply but must be able to provide evidence of admission to an Australian university.

Business Exchange Travel Grant

Eligibility requirements

In order to be eligible to receive this Travel Grant, students must:

  • have completed the core Business subjects
  • be enrolled in a Business undergraduate or postgraduate degree and be approved to go on exchange by the UTS Business School and UTS Global Exchange
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 24 credit points exchange subjects for credit transfer from the host institution to UTS Business School degree
  • not be in receipt of any other scholarship, cadetship or bursary. This excludes the Global Exchange Scholarship offered by UTS: International, which students may receive concurrently with this grant
  • be able to speak and present upon their return about their experience overseas when required by UTS Business School and/or UTS Global Exchange

Qualified and eligible students will be contacted directly by the UTS Business School Academic Services Unit based on the approved list of students provided by UTS Global Exchange. This invitation to apply for an exchange travel grant will also include information on the submission/due date to lodge the application for the travel grant.

  • meet all admission criteria for the selected course;
  • be commencing full-time on-campus;
  • be applying for a UTS Faculty of Science articulated undergraduate program;
  • have completed an approved pathway Diploma qualification from a Polytechnic in Singapore prior to commencing at UTS;
  • have an overall GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0

In addition to the above:

  • The Scholarships are granted on the basis of academic merit.
  • At least one (1) Scholarship to be granted to graduates from each of the following Polytechnics:

Singapore Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and Nanyang Polytechnic

  • a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency of Australia; or
  • the recipient of a full tuition fee scholarship for the intended studies at UTS; or
  • enrolled in a UTS transnational program.

  • have an ATAR of at least 80.

In addition to the above:

  • Scholarships are granted on the basis of academic merit.

You are not eligible if you:

  • are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency of Australia; or
  • are the recipient of a full tuition fee Scholarship for the intended studies at UTS; or
  • have enrolled in a UTS transnational program.

Category One: Up to one (1) new Recipient will be granted the Scholarship each calendar year.

Category Two: Up to five (5) new Recipients will be granted the Scholarship each calendar year.

  • are the recipient of a full tuition fee Scholarship for the intended studies at UTS; or
  • have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification.
  • have enrolled in a UTS transnational program.

Category One: From 2017, up to two (2) Recipients will be granted the Scholarship in Autumn session, and up to two (2) Recipients will be granted the Scholarship in Spring session.

Category Two: From 2017, up to ten (10) Recipients will be granted the Scholarship in Autumn session, and up to ten (10) Recipients will be granted the Scholarship in Spring session.

UTS Science Diploma to Degree Scholarship (INSEARCH)

In addition to the above:

  • the Scholarships are granted on the basis of academic merit.

  • enrolled in a UTS transnational program.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)

Eligibility requirements

Students must be an overseas student (as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth)) and meet international student visa requirements as specified by the DIAC, including the requirement to purchase and maintain a standard Overseas Student Health Cover policy approved by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing (DOHA). It covers the annual tuition fees in a Doctoral or Masters Degree by research, as well as covering the cost of a standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the awardee and their dependents. The duration of a full-time scholarship is 3 years for a PhD candidate and 2 years for a Masters candidate. The IPRS is extremely competitive and only a few are awarded per year.

UTS International Research Scholarship (IRS)

Eligibility requirements

Students to be eligible for the UTS IRS, must:

be an overseas student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth); and
purchase and maintain a standard OSHC policy approved by the Commonwealth government Department of Health and Ageing; and
be commencing full-time enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at UTS;
be undertaking study in a subject area identified by the University as one of its areas of research concentration; and
not hold a research qualification regarded by the University to be equivalent to an Australian research doctorate degree or, if undertaking a research master's degree, not hold a research qualification regarded by the provider to be equivalent to or higher than an Australian research master's degree; and
not have held an Australian Agency for International Development scholarship within the two years prior to commencing the UTS IRS; and
not be receiving a scholarship for which course tuition is a component under any other scholarship scheme to which the Australian Government makes a substantial contribution; and
not previously have received a UTS IRS for a research doctorate degree, unless converting to a research master's degree; and
not previously have received an UTS IRS for a research master's degree, unless: ii) that degree was completed and the student is immediately undertaking a research doctorate degree; or ii) the student has converted their HDR under paragraph 3.25.15 of the Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines (Research) 2010

Sue Connor Scholarship - Muscular Dystrophy NSW

Eligibility requirements

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate in a relevant discipline to undertake research studies leading to a PhD. The Sue Connor Scholarship in 2016 is available to a scholar who wishes to undertake a PhD degree in the field of research into neuromuscular conditions. Proposals for research may be from any relevant discipline, as long as the proposed research has a demonstrable current or future benefit to those living with neuromuscular conditions, and aligns with MDNSW's strategic directions. The scholarship is eligible to UG degree in a discipline relevant to the proposed title of the PhD; Undertake research related to neuromuscular conditions; and Reside in Australia throughout the funding period.

Students must be an overseas student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth); and
purchase and maintain a standard OSHC policy approved by the Commonwealth government Department of Health and Ageing; and
be commencing full-time enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at UTS (UTSPs are not available to applicants whose enrolment into a postgraduate research program has not been accepted by the University);
be undertaking study in a subject area identified by the University as one of its areas of research concentration; and
not have completed a degree at the same or higher level as the proposed candidature; and
not previously have held an Australian Government-funded postgraduate research scholarship, unless it was terminated within six months of the scholarship payments commencing; and
not be receiving an equivalent award, scholarship (excluding an IPRS) or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the UTSP stipend rate to undertake the HDR. Income earned from sources unrelated to the course of study is not subject to the 75% rule.
