Designed to give one student the unique opportunity to undertake the course for free, it is hoped that this will encourage the best and most talented musicians and performers to develop in the manner that the late Gerry Rafferty would have appreciated.

Renfrewshire District Trust Scholarship

Student requirements

You can apply to the Renfrewshire District Trust if you are a full-time / part-time undergraduate student studying in any subject area. Your home address must be in Renfrewshire and you will currently live there. This trust fund is available to students whose personal and/or family circumstances might be stopping them from pursuing or continuing their studies and need a little extra financial support. You will need to have applied to/received a decision from all statutory funding available. You will also need to provide evidence showing why you need this extra support, and demonstrate how it will help you throughout your studies.

Sutherland Page Trust Scholarship

Student requirements

You can apply to the Sutherland Page Trust if you are an under/postgraduate student who was born in Scotland or have at least one of your parent who was born in Scotland or have lived in Scotland for three continuous years directly before starting your course. You will have successfully completed your first year of study in Medicine, Law, Arts, Divinity or Science (inc. Nursing/Midwifery and Social Sciences).

Postgraduate Scholarship (UWS Graduates Progressing to Postgraduate Course)

Eligibility: All full fee paying (non-EU) international students who have successfully completed at least one year of undergraduate study and are progressing to postgraduate study at UWS. Award amount: 10% discount on fees for self-funded (non-EU) international students who wish to progress from undergraduate to postgraduate study at UWS. In addition, you will also be entitled to a 10% Early Payment Incentive if your tuition fees are paid in full prior to, or on enrolment, providing this is within one week of formal classes commencing.

UWS Songwriting and Performance Scholarships

In support of the Year of Creative Scotland, UWS is delighted to announce two scholarship schemes for the launch of its innovative MA Songwriting and Performance programme which gets underway this September. It is aimed at graduates from a range of music disciplines, as well as experienced writers and performers. Carnegie-Cameron Postgraduate Bursary

Student requirements

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit and promise, and financial needs. The most important selection criteria will be those envisaged by Andrew Carnegie: that the candidates are qualified and deserving, industrious and ambitious, and that they would derive particular benefit from obtaining a postgraduate degree, which they would be unlikely to attend without the award. This bursary is available if you are studying: A Masters level course - Courses that only lead to a certificate or diploma are not eligible. Research based postgraduate courses are also exempt from this scheme. Either one year full time or two years part time - You must be able to obtain Masters level study within this timeframe. If your chosen course fits the criteria above, you can apply if you: Are Scottish by birth OR Scottish by descent (at least one parent born in Scotland) OR have at least 3 years of further and/or higher education in Scotland which was funded through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) and for which you were eligible to apply for a student loan. Have a place on your chosen course at UWS beginning in the 2015-16 academic years.

Glasgow Housing Association and Cube Housing Association Better Futures Bursary

The Better Futures bursary is available to students who currently reside in a Glasgow Housing Association or Cube Housing Association Property who are following a degree route in college at HNC / HND Level or studying a University Degree. It aims to support tenants to achieve their educational goals and sustain education. An application can be made for up to £1500 per year for full-time (£750 part-time) study for up to 4 years and can include funding for the cost of books, equipment, travel or other study and living costs that will help you complete your course.

UWS Merit-Based Scholarship Awards for 2015/16

For 2015/16 intake, the University is offering a range of merit-based scholarships to international (non-EU) students. The scholarships are aimed at students who have achieved academic excellence prior to applying to UWS. International Accommodation Bursary

Student requirements

Eligibility: Self-financing overseas (non-EU) students on a full-time programme are eligible to apply for a £1,000 accommodation bursary. The accommodation bursary is a contribution towards the cost of accommodation in the University's self-catering halls of residence or flats and does not apply to private accommodation outside the University. Students will not be entitled to a 'rebate' if they choose to move out of residences. Students must stay in University accommodation for 40 weeks of the academic calendar. The deduction of the £1,000 accommodation bursary is subject to receipt of the application form and all University Terms and Conditions being met by the student. Details of award: The bursary is applied at £500 per trimester for your continuous stay within University accommodation. The bursary is based on payment of student's tuition fees: if tuition fees are paid in full in TR1 then £1,000 will be credited; if 50% is paid then £500 will be credited. Bursaries are subject to all University Terms and Conditions being met.
