Overview

California Institute of the Arts was established in 1961 by Walt and Roy Disney through the merger of two professional schools—the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music and the Chouinard Art Institute. It is located in Valencia, California, north of downtown Los Angeles. Currently around 1,300 students are enrolled in the institute.The institute offers BFAs and MFAs in both the visual and performing arts. The 6 schools—Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Film/Video, Music and Theater—are all housed under one roof in a 5-story building.
