Johnson & Wales University - Providence, is the largest of the four campuses in the JWU network and easily accessible from Boston and New York. The Downcity Campus is anchored by Gaebe Commons, a popular hub of student activity, and surrounded by a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, music venues and a scenic riverfront.
The Harborside Campus sits on 80 scenic acres along Narragansett Bay, and houses the College of Culinary Arts, the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School, the Harborside Recreation Center, and the Culinary Arts Museum.
Eleven fully-equipped residence halls include McNulty, which sits right on Gaebe Commons, as well as the Cove and Harborside Village, both of which feature apartment-style living with washers and dryers in each unit. From the all-natural, organic food stations at Market Place to the fresh ground burgers and hand-cut fries at City Burger, the 9 dining facilities on the Providence Campus offer a range of food options, including two on-campus Starbucks.
Since 2000, JWU has invested more than $200 million in construction and renovation on the Providence Campus to create an environment that lets students study and live with ease.

College of Management:
The College of Management offers programs in two core areas Business Management and Hospitality. The programs are taught by world-class faculty who turn theory into practice to provide students with the knowledge and skills employers are seeking. The intensive career services, on-campus career conferences, national competitions, and other industry networking opportunities help students connect with some of the world’s leading businesses.
The School of Science & Liberal Arts is part of the College of Arts & Sciences, which offers professionally-focused degree programs rooted in the liberal arts. The College also provides the A&S Core Experience embedded in all JWU degree programs to help students develop the skills identified by employers as most critical to professional success: effective communication, critical and creative thinking, quantitative literacy and ethical reasoning.
Shows like ‘Master Chef’ which are syndicated on international television networks have made cooking a popular vocation. At the College of Culinary Art, students will learn by doing, mastering the craft of culinary arts in top-notch labs, under the guidance of expert chef-instructors in classes with an 18:1 student/teacher ratio. An integrated arts and science curriculum ensures that students graduate with skills required to succeed in the modern world.
JWU gives aspiring engineers and designers one of the best choice of programs in the USA coupled with innovative practical learning and opportunities to work on actual projects at start-ups and established firms. Be it robotics, computers, electronics or graphic design; there is a program for everyone.
For students aspiring to work in the medical profession as a caregiver or clinician JWU offers the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program, an intensive two-year course. With modules in clinical medicine, therapeutic care, and medical science; students are prepared to face the complex challenges of patient-care.
College of Graduate Studies:

English Language Institute:
The English Language Institute (ELI) offers special courses in English, which can be taken by students who wish to improve their English language skills to meet the English proficiency prescribed for a course of their choice.
Applicants from India have a keen interest in the business programs offered by JWU. In the upcoming admissions year JWU is set to introduce two new programs, which are bound to be of interest for students from India. The programs are the MS in Finance and the MS in Human Resource Management.
MS in Finance:
JWU’s Master of Science in Finance program will prepare students for a variety of management positions in businesses of any kind or size around the world, as well as consulting firms, investing firms, and other financial institutions. Students will have the option to select one of two tracks in preparation to sit for the examination for the Certified Financial Planner or Chartered Financial Analyst designations. Prospective applicant should have completed an undergraduate degree in Finance with a good academic score.
MS in Human Resource Management:
JWU’s Master of Science in Human Resource Management program is designed for those who wish to make a mark in the field of corporate recruitment and handling people across industries. With a focus on business leadership and inter-personal communication skills, the program will assist people with a few years of work experience to move up the corporate ladder. On graduation students can sit for the Human Resource Certification Institute’s Profession in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification exams.
At JWU, the MBA offers students all the skills required to succeed in the corporate world. The Providence campus offers an accelerated one-year MBA. Students can also specialize in a specific subject concentration and complete their MBA. Specializations are available in Accounting, Hospitality and Information Technology. Applicants from India who have completed a regular three-year undergraduate degree can take pre-MBA courses to meet the prescribed eligibility requirements. This equates their learning to a four-year undergraduate degree in the USA and allows applicants to join the MBA program.

Students aspiring to study an undergraduate program at JWU can apply directly online and there is no application processing fee. It is a requirement for all students that will enter any program or A.S. or B.S., to have graduated from high school or its equivalent.
English language requirements:
PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English): minimum score of 53
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 80 IBT - internet based test
TOEFL score of 550 PPT - pen/paper test
IELTS (Cambridge), Band 6.5
Documents to be submitted:
Documentation verifying completion of higher secondary education (high school) or equivalent
Transfer credit: submit official transcripts, diplomas or certificates with course descriptions
English language scores (if applicable)
Bank letter verifying one year tuition and expenses; financial declaration form
Copy of passport information page
Students should have completed a relevant undergraduate program with a good academic score. To enter the M.B.A. program it is required to have graduated from a university with a B.S. or its equivalent, with an accumulated 2.75 or higher grade point average. When applying for a postgraduate program, applicants are required to submit a ‘Statement of Purpose’ and two ‘letters of recommendation’.
JWU awards an unlimited number of partial scholarships to international students. Scholarships offered for international (undergraduate) students are academic (based on their previous academic history). The university scholarships range from US$1,000 – $5,000 a year and are renewable for four academic years or undergraduate study and cannot be applied towards our ESL program. There is no need to apply for these scholarships, the only way to qualify to receive them is to apply for admission, as well as supply all of the required admissions documents.
Students enrolling in Master or M.B.A. programs (available at the Providence campus only) are also eligible for scholarship money by filling out the scholarship form included with the admissions application. This scholarship is for US$1,000, and it is not renewable.
Providence is a small city with a big heart. Providence was recently named America’s Favorite City by ‘Travel + Leisure’ magazine. The University management has invested a considerable sum of money in renovating existing buildings, constructing new ones and providing an environment conducive to academic excellence. Some of the facilities on offer at Providence are described below in brief.
JWU Providence gives students the opportunity to choose from over 100 organizations that cater to a wide variety of interests ranging from photography and music to astronomy and movies. Students can also join together to start a new organization.
Sports and Athletics:
Students with a keen interest in sports and athletics will love to study at JWU. They can pick from a wide variety of sports like baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball and much more.
On-campus accommodation is the safest and most convenient place to live at JWU. Students enrolled at the Providence campus can choose from 13 residence halls that are designed to meet their requirements.
Students can choose from a variety of options at Providence. From pastas and pizzas to coffees of various kinds and cuisine from around the world the options are mind boggling. For the set price of $6.75, students can enjoy a freshly prepared meal at any one of the dining facilities. Students are required to sign up for a Meal Plan.
JWU provides its students with free, comprehensive primary health care and prevention services at both the Downcity Campus and Harborside Campus at Providence. Trained medical professionals, including a nurse and physician, are ready to provide treatment and offer other assistance at both facilities. Confidential counseling is offered to students with emotional and psychological problems. Mindful meditation is a weekly drop-in class offering guided meditation and relaxation techniques that will benefit students immensely.
The International Student Services (ISS) Team helps international students acclimatize to college life at Providence. Students with queries regarding immigration laws, accommodation, jobs, etc., can visit the ISS team and get their queries answered.
