LASALLE College of the Arts receives the coveted EduTrust Star award
Singapore’s first home-grown institution, LASALLE College of the Arts has received the highest accolade awarded to private education institutions under the EduTrust Certification Scheme.
The award marks a milestone in LASALLE’s illustrious 31-year history as the institution grew from 27 students in 1984 to 2,600 today, with programmes expanding from four to 33.
With star alumni like singer/actress Kit Chan, award-winning filmmaker Boo Junfeng and Ilo Ilo producer Yuni Hadi, LASALLE’s award is a testament to its excellence in key areas of management and quality education services.
The review judged by a panel of 7 CPE assessors examine six criteria such as Management Commitment and Responsibilities, Corporate Governance and Administration, External Recruitment Agents, Student Protection and Support Services, Academic Processes and Assessment of Students, and Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Results.
LASALLE chairman Peter Seah said that the College has grown by leaps and bounds with its current landmark partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London.
“The EduTrust Star award is a timely recognition of how far the College has come in its journey towards excellence.
“We will continue to build up this institution that deserves to be Singapore’s best and contribute to the creative dimension which is so important to our country,” Seah said.
LASALLE president professor Steve Dixon added that the EduTrust Star puts a seal on several years of concerted hard work that will take the College to a new level of dynamism, quality and excellence.
“It has been my great pride and privilege to lead such an exceptional body of staff towards the achievement of this award,” Dixon said pointing out that the College continues with its unwavering commitment to students who deserve the best in art education in Singapore.
The Edutrust Star award demonstrates a maturing education institution that can share best practices in curriculum development, quality assurance and benchmarking practices with other higher educational institutions in Singapore and the rest of the world.
Currently, there are three award types under EduTrust; EduTrust Star, EduTrust and EduTrust Provisional. Both EduTrust Star and EduTrust awards are valid for four years whereas EduTrust Provisional is valid for one year.
Meanwhile, LASALLE has released findings from its 2014 graduate employment survey that 91 per cent of its diploma graduates and 93 per cent of its local degree holders secured jobs within three months of graduation.
