The Institute has excellent facilities and resources; it has fully equipped ‘State-of-the-Art’ kitchens, workshops, audio-visual equipment and personal computer labs. VIT’s resource centre includes a Higher Education electronic library that allows students to access over 1,000 full-text e-Journals, plus 2,500 e-Books- all accessible 24/7. In addition, VIT has English Language, Business, Commercial Cookery, Patisserie, Hospitality, IT and Multimedia reference books for students on premises.
VIT operates from two locations: 123 Queen Street, Melbourne and our School of Hospitality located at 413 Johnston Street, Abbotsford.
In 2008, five state-of-the-art commercial kitchens were purpose built for hospitality training at the Abbotsford campus. The five kitchens are fitted out in accordance with the Service Skills Australia equipment guidelines. These kitchens were built as per Building Commission Australia specifications and are approved by the City of Yarra Planning Department, Building Department and Health Department as premises for our Culinary Training School and fully functional cafe and restaurant with on premises liquor license.
VIT qualifications are recognised by the following relevant industry bodies: Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA); Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA); Department of Education; Service Skills Australia; and Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA).
As such, a number of pathways are provided from the Vocational programs that allow students to progress into other Australian University courses based on individual course entry requirements.
