Course summary
This course encompasses a knowledge base that prepares graduates to deliver holistic care to all who require it. Nursing includes the study of core nursing skills and knowledge as well as bioethics, the legal basis of nursing practice, biological sciences, therapeutic communication, health promotion, education and nursing leadership. Year one is an on-campus year, while year two is delivered either on-campus or via intensive schools, online learning and clinical practice blocks. Career Opportunities: Employment as an enrolled nurse in a range of areas and environments.
Entry requirement for international students
Student must have a UAI, OP or equivalent; or Certificate IV or above; which will enable them to be assessed in competition with other applicant; or meet the requirements of an alternate admission program offered by UNE; and satisfy English language requirements and fulfill any specific criteria for individual courses as required, such as interviews, auditions, portfolios and/ or tests and if admitted on the basis of an Australian school-leaving qualification, have achieved a standard set by the faculty in English and a science subject in that school-leaving qualification; or successfully undertake an interview conducted by a panel of UNE academic registered nurses. International students must meet at least one of the following criteria in English language requirements: English is the applicant's first language; satisfactory completion, within 5 years of the date of application for admission to UNE; a pass grade or better in an English language subject at Australian Year 12 level or overseas equivalent; or an IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band score less than 5.5 (or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the Computer-Based Test; or at least 79 in the Internet-Based Test with no less than 22 in the written component); satisfactory completion of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program at the University of New England English Language Centre, or an equivalent EAP program at an Australian University NEAS-accredited English Language Centre (subject to certification from the university concerned that satisfactory completion of that university's EAP program would entitle the applicant to be accepted into a comparable award-bearing program at that university; or at a non University NEAS-accredited English Language Provider recognized by the Academic Board Teaching and Learning Committee; or satisfactory completion on a prior or concurrent basis of an English communication skills program appropriate for specific programs approved by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor or their nominee, on the joint advice of the relevant Pro Vice-Chancellor-Dean and Director, English Language and International Services.
