Course summary
This stream specialises in robotics and mechatronics engineering, and will equip a career in manufacturing and mechanical control engineering. The course also provides para-professional-level training for the mechanical and manufacturing industry, with a major emphasis on automation systems, as well as structural engineering applications. It is structured to deliver the competencies, knowledge and skills required by the engineering industries. Advanced Mathematics is offered in conjunction with the second year of the Advanced Diploma to facilitate articulation into the degree programs. Major study areas in the Robotics and Mechatronics stream include: develop career paths for the engineering industry, perform basic machining processes, program, operate and select a robotic system produce drawings, operate computing packages, manage projects, design mechanical machines, use power and hand tools, apply electro technology principles in engineering work environment.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants must have a satisfactory completion of the Swinburne English for Academic Purposes Advanced level certificate at the pathways level (EAP 5: Pathways -60%) or, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; or a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5); or TOEFL (Computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with Written Writing score of 4.5); or TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.
