Course summary
This course will develop students understanding and application of designing jewellery, products, objects (such as ceramics, glass and plastics) and/or furniture. They will expand their knowledge of technology, develop professional communication skills and learn to apply creative rationale. The university will help students to develop the creative and technical skills they need to produce innovative pieces and limited-production ranges. Their project-based activities will give them knowledge and an understanding of the design processes used within industry. I n their third year they will undertake some self-directed learning, and exhibit and publish their work. 3D Design is offered as part of the Bachelor of Arts. Students can study this as part of a double major with Digital Design, Fashion, Fine Art, Screen Arts, Textiles, Art and Design Studies and Entrepreneurship. The various career opportunities are artist, industrial designer, jeweller, furniture design consultant, furniture/cabinet maker, joiner, product designer, in-house creative consultant, freelance designer, jewellery designer, entrepreneur, retailer, stylist, merchandiser, jewellery manufacturer, gallery director, teacher and arts administrator.
Entry requirement for international students
Students are required to submit a portfolio. They must also satisfy the English language requirements such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Writing score of 6.0, Speaking score of 6.0, Reading score of 6.0, Listening score of 6.0, Overall band score of 6.0 and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper based score of 550, Internet based (20 in each section) score of 80 and minimum test of written English (TWE) 4.5 and CUTE (Curtin Uni Test of English) - C.
