Course summary
This course offers a broad range of traditional discipline areas such as History, English, Languages, Philosophy, Theatre and Performance Studies and Music, as well as exciting `new Humanities’ such as Media, Culture and Technology, Americas Studies, Asian Studies and Environmental Studies. The UNSW BA can also include the Social Sciences - such as Sociology and Anthropology, International Business, International Relations, Politics, Economics and Development Studies. Check with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences on available combinations of these areas of study. Australian Studies provides an interdisciplinary exploration of Australian culture and society. Its concerns are wide-ranging and include Aboriginal issues, the environment, gender identity and politics, and the shaping of cultural icons and institutions.
Entry requirement for international students
Students will be considered for admission to this program at UNSW on the basis of their performance in any of the following: Australian and New Zealand final senior secondary studies, post-secondary or tertiary qualifications, overseas qualifications considered equivalent to Australian studies or an alternative entry scheme. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS overall score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing; TOEFL - Internet-based Test (iBT) overall score of 90 with a minimum score of 24 in writing; TOEFL - Paper-based Test (PBT) overall score of 577 with a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); successful completion of the UNSW Institute of Languages University English Entry Course with a grade of C+ (grade point 7.0) and a minimum score of 20 in the writing component; overall score of 68 in Pearson Test of English academic version and successful completion of the ANU College Access Program with a minimum of 70 per cent overall.
