Course summary

This course is designed to give students a deeper understanding of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and their histories, environment, cultures, languages, politics and economies. It is offered to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. It recognizes the significance of Indigenous languages and cultures as an important part of the heritage of all Australians. Field trips give students first-hand experience of contemporary Indigenous communities, enhancing their understanding of community histories and current issues. They also gain an insight into research ethics and protocols for consulting with communities.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have completed Australian Year 11 and Year 12 or other country specific requirements equivalent to Australia. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5) or TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.0) or TOEFL (internet based) score of 79 (minimum writing score of 19) or Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 57.
