Course summary

The course enables students to experience a range of educational processes and curricula to equip them for entry into a constantly changing workforce in which they will need effective intellectual, analytical and social skills to operate as effective citizens of the Australian and global communities. The course provides students with the opportunity to develop critical awareness and understanding of theory and research in chosen areas of study; gain insights into their own lives and the patterns of social, cultural and political experience of society in general; and develop the capacity to generate, organise and undertake research into the life of their community. Students will participate in a cross-disciplinary project in their final year and they undertake two specialisation sequences from the following: Advanced English for Speakers of Other Languages (AESOL); Asian Studies; Communication Studies; Gender Studies; History; Literary Studies; Media Studies; Performance Studies; Political Science; Professional Writing; Psychology; Social Research Methods; Sociology; Visual Arts; and Vietnamese. Graduates can find careers as publisher; consultant for public service and government communications; writer; event coordinator; theatre director; film maker; project manager in arts management; advertising; government; and travel and tourism.

Entry requirement for international students

Students must have completed Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 20 in English (any). They must also have completion of any design and technology, English language, information technology (any), literature, media, or visual communication and design equal to an aggregate two points higher per study, to a maximum 10 points. They must have completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12. They must also have IELTS (Academic) overall score of 6 with no band less than 6,TOEFL (Internet) test score of 80 with no section score less than 20 andTOEFL (Computer) test score of 213 with Essay Rating score not less than 5. They should also have EAP University Preparation UP2 (UG).
