Course summary
This program is a springboard to a career in a diverse range of health science fields. It enables students to develop an understanding not only of health and well being, but also an appreciation of those factors leading to ill-health and disease. The course allows students to tailor their study program to meet their specific needs and interests, including those wishing to pursue a career in osteopathy, psychology, naturopathy and human nutrition. It also provides a potential pathway into graduate entry medicine, dentistry, pharmacology, dietetics and physiotherapy. Majors to choose from include: complementary medicine, naturopathic studies (only available as a double major with complementary medicine), human structure and function, osteopathic studies (only available as a double major with human structure and function), psychology, human nutrition and ecosystem management (only available as a double major with human nutrition). The course can also be completed without a major, providing the option to pursue a general study program from a wide range of elective units. This course provides a pathway into graduate entry osteopathy, psychology and dietetics, and a potential articulation into physiotherapy, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and naturopathy. It also prepares students for a variety of career directions in the health and education sectors, including at medical centers, health centers, pharmacies, resorts and retreats, in research, as natural health or nutrition consultants to the industry sector and within the media.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have completed an educational qualification deemed to be at least equivalent to completion of year 12 in Australia and achieved the equivalent of the minimum entry grade for the course for which they have applied. They should have fulfilled the Universitys English language requirement: IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band or TOEFL score of 550 with no less than 4.5 in the test of written English or TOEFL Internet-based with a minimum score or 79 and a minimum of 22 in writing and no less than 18 in other bands or equivalent.
