Course summary
This program emphasizes the application of electronics, electrical and systems engineering in medicine and biology, allowing students to explore the applications and challenges associated with biomedical engineering. They will become capable of creating new devices, instrumentation software and other technologies to advance biology and improve healthcare and the quality of life within communities. With high demand for biomedical engineers and engineers with biological know-how, they can choose from a vast and exciting range of career options. They may work in the growing biomedical areas of the public sector such as biomaterials, clinical engineering, medical electronics and medical imaging.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have either one of the following: Swinburne college English for Academic Purposes advanced level certificate at the pathways level (EAP 5: pathways - 60 per cent); obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (academic module) with no individual band below 5.0; a TOEFL (paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a test of written English (TWE) score of 4.5); a TOEFL (computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with written writing score of 4.5); a TOEFL (internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.
