Course summary
This is a comprehensive degree that specialises in developing the full range of skills required for a career in computer software development. The core program concentrates on developing practical skills in programming, information systems and software engineering. The course is suitable for students wanting to develop computer skills that will allow them to build and use systems, as well as understand the fundamental principles that underlie these systems. Career opportunities include programmer, systems analyst, project leader, systems development manager, IT sales and marketing, systems engineer, database administrator, end-user support and training, communication systems analysis and design, IT or management consultant.
Entry requirement for international students
There are no specific entry requirements, however some units, particularly advanced computing units and some mathematics units, have specific entry requirements. The required Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for this course is 75.00. No work experience required. Students should also have a minimum IELTS (Academic English only) score of 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each section; minimum TOEFL (paper based test) score of 580 overall, with 53 listening, 52 reading, 59 structure/written expression, 5.0 TWE; TOEFL (computer based test) score of 237 overall, with 19 listening, 19 reading, 25 structure/writing and TOEFL (internet based test) score of 92 overall, with 18 listening, 17 reading, 22 writing and 22 speaking.
