Course summary
This course provides a good balance of nursing theory and practice, and they will undertake supporting studies in biological, behavioural and social science, and the humanities. Students are supervised by academic and clinical staff considered leaders in the nursing field. Approximately half of the learning experiences are clinically based to ensure them gain extensive practical experience as a nurse. Clinical placements are available in a range of public and private hospitals and community services throughout Brisbane and in regional and rural areas of Queensland. Nursing graduates have excellent employment opportunities in a variety of health care settings or health promotion agencies. These include public and private hospitals and nursing homes as well as community service areas such as community health, occupational health, domiciliary nursing services, school health, Aboriginal health, pathology laboratories, alcohol and drug dependence and the armed services.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have completed a non-nursing bachelor degree (or equivalent) within the past 10 years. Students with degrees (or equivalent) completed more than 10 years ago must provide evidence of graduate work experience and/or further studies since course completion with their QTAC application to receive further consideration. They must also satisfy English language requirements, IELTS overall band score of 6.5 with no sub-band below 6.0; or TOEFL score of 90 with at least 20 in all bands (Internet Based).
