This campus is located on a 140-hectare site of natural bushland 12 kilometres west of the city of Newcastle, the Callaghan campus has a reputation for being one of the most naturally beautiful campuses in Australia. Callaghan is the original campus and the place where the majority (around 16,000) of the students are based. Callaghan is well serviced by both bus and train (there is a railway station adjacent to the campus) and it has excellent access to the freeway.

This campus has housing over 950 students, this university has four residential Colleges: Barahineban, Edwards Hall, Evatt House and International House. More than half of these rooms are reserved for existing residents. The Colleges can offer students a range of social, cultural and sporting opportunities in an environment conducive to study and academic achievement. Each College is under the care of a Head of Residence and a team of residential staff. Each College has its own ethos and students have a choice of catered or self-catered lifestyles. The Ourimbah Campus has a self-catered residential unit (Blue Gum House). The Off-Campus Accommodation office maintains an interactive database of accommodation options.

This campus offers several programs and courses on one site so that students can take advantage of pathways between levels and sectors of education and training. Its affiliates are the Central Coast Community College and the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music. The University of Newcastle has a major presence on the Central Coast of New South Wales at Ourimbah through a multi-sector co-located partnership of Hunter Institute. Ourimbah is an Indigenous word expressing a place of learning, and the campus is located on traditional lands where this learning took place.

This campus is located in one of the fastest growing areas in NSW and has the amenities of a major city combined with beautiful scenery and a relaxed holiday atmosphere. There are a number of accommodation options available on the Central Coast. Blue Gum House was opened in 1998 and has four separate units in a two storey building. Two of the units have six bedrooms and two have seven bedrooms. It offers single room accommodation on a self catering basis. Students may wish to apply for on-campus accommodation, stay in temporary accommodation, rent private accommodation or stay with a family.

This Campus of TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute is a multi-sectoral campus, offering both University and TAFE programs to students in the mid north coast region. The campus has a student population of approximately 4000 students and offers degree programs in Teaching and Nursing as well as a range of TAFE Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas and Certificates that provide pathways to tertiary study. This campus library provides a quiet place to study and access to card-operated photocopiers, computers, scanners and audiovisual equipment. The Counsellors are located in Building A and are available to discuss your plans, ideas, feelings or uncertainties about studying, as well as career options or life in general in a friendly, confidential atmosphere. There are a range of support services to assist people with disabilities, including assisting with tutorial support, special exams, special classes, sign language interpreters, note takers, large print material, Braille and physical access. The Disability Consultant is located in Building D.
