Course summary
This course emphasizes the development of professional skills in the technical area of software engineering, that is, the systematic application of analysis, design, and construction techniques for computer systems and applications. Graduate will acquire technical knowledge of the fundamentals of computer systems, programming languages, and the mathematical foundations of algorithms and data structures that are required to establish reliability and safety in software. Technical knowledge is honed by a selection of advanced technical topics. It provides a world-class education in software engineering. Graduates are highly sought after and are employed by large organizations such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, IG, Deloitte, Price Waterhouse Coopers and the federal government, as well as small local firms such as CEA Technologies, Funnel back, The Distillery, All-Homes and Seeing Machines. Graduates have also undertaken research in many areas of computing at ANU and other leading universities around the world. Some are now teaching next generation software engineers.
Entry requirement for international students
International students whose native is not English should have the following English qualifications: Academic IELTS - an overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL (paper based test) - a score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; TOEFL (computer based test) - a score of 230 with Essay score of 4.5 or TOEFL (internet based test) - a score of 90, with a minimum of 20 in all four sections.
