Course summary
This course is not a separate course in its own right but is taken in conjunction with UTS: Information Technology's undergraduate bachelor programs. Students must obtain suitable employment and work for a minimum of nine months full time and must undertake the academic subjects related to their industrial training. The diploma is extremely beneficial for students relating their final year of coursework to the practical needs of the IT industry. This experience is invaluable when applying for graduate career positions. For career options, refer to the main degree undertaken. The diploma increases students' employability by providing at least nine months' work experience before graduation. Many students continue working with their industrial training employer and finish their studies part time.
Entry requirement for international students
This course is normally available to students who are currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (C10148), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (C10239), Bachelor of Business Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (C10219), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Bachelor of Laws (C10245), Bachelor of Mathematics and Computing (C10158), Bachelor of Science in Games Development (C10229), Graduate Diploma of Interactive Multimedia (C07078) and Master of Interactive Multimedia (C04158). Students must have progressed to a particular stage of their program of study and completed certain subject requirements before being admitted concurrently to the Diploma in Information Technology Professional Practice. Students who have completed all subjects in their course may still enrol in the diploma, but cannot graduate from their course until they finish the diploma. Non-UTS students who hold a work integrated learning scholarship may also apply for this course. Students must fulfil the following English language proficiency of academic IELTS test score of 6.0 overall (with a writing score of 6.0) or TOEFL Test Paper Based score of 550 overall with TWE of 4.5 or TOEFL Test Internet Based score of 80 overall with essay writing of 21 or DEEP Program (Completion of the Insearch Direct Entry English Program at C level) or PTE score of 58.
