Course summary
This is a hands-on course preparing students for work in the food and beverage industry. Participants study in Holmesglen’s student training restaurants Zest at Waverley and Cilantro at Moorabbin to learn the intricacies of front of house service in a fine dining establishment. Upon successful completion of this course students are eligible to receive the nationally recognised qualification of the Diploma of Hospitality plus the Responsible Service of Alcohol and Food Hygiene certificate. This course provides the training skills and development for people seeking management positions and a career within the hospitality industry. The course is delivered with a balanced practical and theory focus. Career Opportunities: Management Roles in various departments of Resorts, Hotels and Function Centres; Sommelier / Wine Specialist Roles; Management and Operational Roles at Gaming Venues, Cruise Liners and Casinos; Restaurant Management; Accommodation Operations; and Supervisory and Management roles within Sales, Marketing, Inventory and Logistics at Major Hotels and Facilities Worldwide. If the diploma is not enough for their career aspirations of owning and running their own bar they can enter directly into the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality or the Bachelor of Hospitality Management.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have good record at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent plus relevant employment experience. They must satisfy English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.
