Course summary
This program not only offers students a comprehensive course in programming, software engineering, web development and database design; but offers additional training in multimedia such as graphic design, flash animation, and 3D modelling. Software development students have the benefit and advantage of gaining not only software development knowledge but also some e-commerce and multimedia skills. These additional talents are essential, and can be applied to any business and IT industries. This also allows students to develop interactive programs and work in the programming field of games development. Students interested in games design and 3D animation are encouraged to continue their studies with AIT’s Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Games Development) where students learn advanced 3D modelling skills and games design theories and techniques. This qualification will give students the opportunity to work in various industries - from business, creative IT to entertainment (games). Possible careers include: Games Developer, Middleware Programmer, Software Applications Specialist, Software Design Engineer, Software Developer/Programmer, Xbox Programmer.
Entry requirement for international students
The following units of competency are prerequisites for this qualification as they contain the fundamental knowledge and skills required prior to commencing this qualification: BSBCMN106A Follow workplace safety procedures, ICAD2012B Design organisational documents using computing packages, ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer, ICAU2005B Operate computer hardware, ICAU2006B Operate computing packages, ICAU2013B Integrate commercial computing packages, ICAU2231B Use computer operating system, ICAW2001B Work effectively in an IT environment, ICAW2002B Communicate in the workplace. As all lessons and assessments are conducted in English, an adequate level of English is strongly recommended. This includes suitable levels of competence in reading, writing, and comprehending the English language. International students must comply with DIAC requirements and should have an IELTS or equivalent score of 5.5 or above.
