Course summary
The focus of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is on developing a student’s expert knowledge in this field of research, along with their research, critical and creative thinking, and problem solving skills. Also, students can enhance their career prospects in academic, business, government, industry or research related professions in the Built Environment field by developing their research competence as well as extending their capability in creative thinking, problem solving and self-directed learning.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have either completed a Masters by Research including a substantial research component, or a four year bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours from an Australian University that includes a substantial research component, or a qualification or combination of qualifications considered to be equivalent by the appropriate Faculty Higher Degree Committee. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS overall score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing; TOEFL - Internet-based Test (iBT) overall score of 90 with a minimum score of 24 in writing; TOEFL - Paper-based Test (PBT) overall score of 577 with a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); successful completion of the UNSW Institute of Languages University English Entry Course with a grade of C+ (grade point 7.0) and a minimum score of 20 in the writing component; overall score of 68 in Pearson Test of English academic version and successful completion of the ANU College Access Program with a minimum of 70 per cent overall.
