Course summary
This course is designed to train graduates for employment as statisticians in a range of industries. Specialised study is also available in the areas of biostatistics, epidemiological methods, graphics imaging, non paramedic function fitting, time series and stochastic finance. This course is suitable for candidates wishing to work as applied statisticians in industry, government departments, medical institutions, the banking and finance sector or research organisations. After completion graduates get employment as statisticians in research organisations, insurance companies, financial institutions, medical institutions, government departments and industry.
Entry requirement for international students
Students must have a bachelor degree with statistics major from a recognised university. If an applicant's background in statistics, mathematics or computing is inadequate, satisfactory completion of a qualifying program will be required before admission to the masters course. No work experience required. Students should also have a minimum IELTS (Academic English only) score of 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each section; minimum TOEFL (paper based test) score of 580 overall, with 53 listening, 52 reading, 59 structure/written expression, 5.0 TWE; TOEFL (computer based test) score of 237 overall, with 19 listening, 19 reading, 25 structure/writing and TOEFL (internet based test) score of 92 overall, with 18 listening, 17 reading, 22 writing and 22 speaking.
