Course summary
This dual program provides advanced skills and knowledge across the complex areas of both business and information systems. This unique program enables students to achieve the aims and objectives of both the current Swinburne MISM and MBA courses in the most time/cost-efficient and effective way. The information systems component is concerned with the application of information technology to support organisations in the conduct of their business. It examines both the organisational issues and the techniques and technology required for the analysis, design and implementation of business solutions, with an emphasis on electronic commerce. The business administration component not only offers the opportunity to acquire contemporary management knowledge and skills, it also provides students with the ability to apply that knowledge in an innovative, creative and entrepreneurial way. The program provides a distinctive mix of skills for managing IS in supporting core business decisions. Graduates will be qualified for senior IS roles including systems analyst, business development manager, project manager, chief information officer and IT director.
Entry requirement for international students
Students should have a recognised bachelor degree at a suitably high level and at least three years relevant professional experience. They should have either one of the following: Swinburne college English for Academic Purposes advanced level certificate at the postgraduate level (EAP 5: pathways - 70 per cent); or obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (academic module) with no individual band below 6.0; or a TOEFL (paper-based) minimum score of 575 (with a test of written English (TWE) score of 5); a TOEFL (computer-based) minimum score of 232 (with written writing score of 5); a TOEFL (internet-based) minimum score of 90 with no band less than 20.
