Course summary

The increased usage of computers in support of business information system has created problems for traditionally educated managers in present day industry and commerce. Some may be trained in management techniques but have little knowledge in modern computing. Others may be competent in computing/information systems with little understanding of how an organisation runs. It combines core modules in Computing with specialised modules in business and management. The areas covered include finance and accounting, business, economics, marketing, business information systems and international business. It aims to develop the participants' analytical and personal skills necessary to work in a specialised computing and management environment. Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded with the Advanced Diploma in Business Computing awarded by MDIS, an Associate Institute of University of Bradford, UK.

Program modules

Course curriculum includes Software Development II; Software and Information Processing; Fundamentals of Objected Oriented Methods; Fundamentals of Human Computer Interaction; Marketing and Production Management; Foundations of Accounting I and II; Computing Project.

Entry requirement for international students

Applicants must possess one of the following entrance requirements: GCE ‘A’ Level with minimum two principal level passes; or Diploma in Information Technology awarded by MDIS; or other equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis; or mature applicants with insufficient academic qualification but with a minimum of five years of relevant IT experience can be considered on a case-by-case basis; or must hold Higher NITEC (IT Related). Applicants must possess a C6 pass in English Language (EL1) at GCE ‘O’ Level. Those who do not meet the English requirements are required to achieve a minimum of band 6.0 in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) conducted by the British Council; or score a minimum of 213 points (Computer-based) or 550 points (Paperbased) in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) conducted by the United States Education and Information Centre; or pass MDIS English Placement Test. Also applicants must possess a C6 pass in Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level. Those who do not meet this requirement have to sit for a Mathematics Placement Test. Applicants those who fail the test will be required to take a Mathematics Bridging Course.
