Course summary
This performance-based programme offers quality training to students in all essential elements: acting, voice and movement techniques, together with imaginative, improvisational, and research skills. Theory is balanced with practice and applied to dramatic literature, script analysis, world theatre, and cinema. Through classes, projects, workshops, and productions, the course develops their abilities to work in an ensemble environment and with awareness of their own imaginative resources. The programme collaborates with other faculties, especially The Puttnam School of Film, which is part of LASALLE’s Faculty of Media Arts, and offers rich training within a wide cultural and historical context. They will participate in a variety of fully-mounted productions directed by international professionals in a range of theatre spaces. They can progress as an performer in musicals, events and multimedia, theatre director, writer, educator. Related career areas are actor in plays, film, television and radio.
Program modules
The modules covered are: Level 1 covers: Acting 1; Performance Technique 1; Contextual Studies 1; Performance 1A/B. Level 2 covers: Acting 2; Performance Technique 2; Contextual Studies 2; Performance 2A/B. Level 3 covers: Acting 3; Contextual Studies 3; Performance Research; Performance 3A/B.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants from India should have completed Higher secondary school certificate, Indian School Certificate (Standard 12). They are also expected to have IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL iBT80. The 'A' level art/art elective programme or International Baccalaureate (IB) Art and Design are not required subjects but they should represent the portfolio standard for eligibility into the BA (Hons). They are also required to attend an interview where they will present a portfolio of their work that demonstrates their creative development and process.
