Course summary
This programme is a rigorous one, with a distinctive focus on practice, research, business and history. Students will receive comprehensive exposure to art theory, dance, music and theatre, and gain the sensibility to excel as global arts managers. This new generation of managers will then be able to demonstrate social responsibility and employ entrepreneurial strategies in managing creative output, merging art with a knack for business and policy. It provides an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on imparting knowledge and understanding about the artistic and business environments of the creative and cultural industries. In achieving this, they undertake study centered around four key pillars: professional practice (visual and performing arts management practice), business of the creative enterprise, history and contextual studies, and research and communications skills. Emphasis is also placed on personal motivation and development of character. Graduates can progress as arts administrator/ manager. Related Career areas are arts writer or critic, arts business development manager, arts marketing/public relations manager, curator, exhibition manager, event/festival manager, programming manager, sponsorship manager, theatre manager.

The modules covered are: Level 1 covers History and Contextual Studies I; Business of the Creative Enterprise I; Visual and Performing Arts Management Practice I; Research and Communication Skills I. Level 2 covers History and Contextual Studies II; Business of the Creative Enterprise II; Visual and Performing Arts Management Practice II; Research and Communications Skills II. Level 3 covers History and Contextual Studies III; Business of the Creative Enterprise III; Arts Internships; Research Dissertation.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants from India should have completed Higher secondary school certificate, Indian School Certificate (Standard 12). They are also expected to have IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL iBT80. The 'A' level art/art elective programme or International Baccalaureate (IB) Art and Design are not required subjects but they should represent the portfolio standard for eligibility into the BA (Hons). They are also required to attend an interview where they will present a portfolio of their work that demonstrates their creative development and process.
