The programme’s teaching philosophy focuses on practice-based learning, enriching students within an interdisciplinary environment. Coursework is structured to provide them with a range of analytical, reflective, and communicative skills, equipping you to meet emergent professional and industry needs. The specialisms covered are Advertising Communication, Graphic Communication, Image and Communication. Advertising Communication fosters the idea of communication and the media as important cultural mechanisms in reflecting everyday life. It requires them to understand good advertising concepts and design communication principles. Graphic Communication seeks to develop an understanding of the visual language and culture in areas of communication such as Typography, Information design, Interactive design, and Packaging design. Image and Communication concentrates on the framework of contemporary image-making within the disciplines of illustration and photography, from traditional methods to digital and mixed-media applications. Graduates can progress as an graphic designer, art director, creative director, illustrator, photographer, typographer. Related Career areas are copywriter, design curator, design educator, information designer.

The modules covered are: Practical Studio 1A/ B: Design Thinking and Practice; Design Skills and Technology 1; Cultural and Contextual Studies 1. Level 2 covers Practical Studio 2A/ B: Design Thinking and Practice; Design Skills and Technology 2; Cultural and Contextual Studies 2. Level 3 covers Professional Practice: Negotiated Research Portfolio (Advertising Communication); Professional Practice: Negotiated Research Portfolio (Graphic Communication); Professional Practice: Negotiated Research Portfolio (Image and Communication); Professional Practice: Negotiated Research Portfolio (Image and Communication); Design Research Methods.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants from India should have completed Higher secondary school certificate, Indian School Certificate (Standard 12). They are also expected to have IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL iBT80. The 'A' level art/art elective programme or International Baccalaureate (IB) Art and Design are not required subjects but they should represent the portfolio standard for eligibility into the BA (Hons). They are also required to attend an interview where they will present a portfolio of their work that demonstrates their creative development and process.
