Course summary
This programme encompasses areas as diverse as hotels, resorts, restaurants, clubs, casinos, conference venues and cruise ships. It provides students with the knowledge and understanding of fundamental business principles in relation to the hospitality industry. Students will receive the skills to succeed as managers in the fast growing and exciting hospitality industry, in Singapore, Australia and internationally. It includes foundation subjects in the areas of business, leisure and society, accounting for decision making, economics, data analysis, customer experience, management and personal professional skills. These subjects are then complemented by specialist topics in service operations and quality management, club and gaming management, and hospitality and resort marketing and management. Students are exposed to real time hospitality issues while completing a supervised hospitality practicum incorporating work integrated learning (WIL) approach to teaching and learning. It offers choice and flexibility, with the option to combine hospitality management with a second major from international business, marketing, management and entrepreneurship and tourism management. There are also many new job opportunities for graduates in areas such as casino, event, and club management.

The core subjects are as follows: Accounting for Decision Making; Economics for Business; Managing the Customer Experience; Management, People and Organisations; Personal and Professional Skills in Business; Business Data Analysis; Elective subjects: Club and Gaming Management; Hospitality Services: Management and Leadership; Service Quality Management; Hospitality, Culture and People; Hospitality Practicum; Service Industries Marketing.
Entry requirement for international students
Applicants should have completed 12 years of schooling or equivalent. Successful completion of James Cook University Singapore foundation program will also satisfy the entrance requirement. There are different entry requirements from country to country. They must have IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)/ TOFEL 550 (with a minimum written English text score of 4.0) and above; or satisfactory completion of the James Cook University English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP). Students who have successfully completed two years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English language requirement.
